Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments But while I can appreciate the male form semi-unclad as is featured on a lot of book covers these days, I still can't underestimate the appeal of an attractive man in a well tailored suit.
Then again, rumpled with a shirt half unbuttoned is also nice. But when something's left to the imagination, it just adds more intrigue...
thoughts?

Jennifer | 429 comments i appreciate both as well. i love a well defined torso (lickable abs and pecs that you just want to bite) but if he looks hot in a suit then im a goner. my current celebrity crush is Zachary Levi and i just swoon whenever hes in a well tailored suit on Chuck!

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments Anne, I also am old school and agree with you totally. The rumpled shirt half unbuttoned is fine - a suit of armor or some kind of fighting gear is definitely hot, but things left to the imagination are far better for me than "in your face" sex or half undressed guys on covers.

I know this is a "to each his own" thing. It's probably why I read a lot of YA (not totally and my favorite has a guy with his shirt off on it - so there are a few exceptions. LOL.)

Alana ~ The Book Pimp (loonyalana) | 538 comments I can appreciate both

Michelle Scott (michellescottfiction) Put me down as old school, too. And has anyone else noticed the prevelance of six packs! Back when I was a teen, six packs were not a given. I was really into Harrison Ford, and I don't recall abs like they have now.

And this may make me seem *really* old school but I don't mind a guy who keeps his shirt on, either, lol.

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments On is fine, but a few buttons open is never a bad thing. I've been an 'above the waist gal' pretty much always.

Nairabell | 193 comments Heck I'm 25 and from this definition I'm old school! I vastly prefer covers like A Quick Bite (Argeneau, #1) by Lynsay Sands to Passion Untamed (Feral Warriors, #3) by Pamela Palmer .

Bridget Bowers (bridgetbowers) | 36 comments I think the difference is that anyone that has the six-pack and is half naked can be sexy, but I do believe it takes a little something more to pull off sexy when you keep clothes on.

I'd never turn down a nicely toned, half naked man, but yes someone with a rumpled shirt or sharply dressed can definitely make me sit up and take notice.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments I like that, Bridget "I do believe it takes a little something more to pull of sexy when you keep clothes on." Good one.

Anne Mikusinsi (abghostwriter) | 155 comments It does. It's all in the attitude, I think, and not a lot of guys have that ability

Rachel the Book Harlot | 114 comments Hmmm, I'm not sure. I think for me it depends on how it's done. I can appreciate the half naked man, unless it is an incredibly cheesy photo, but I can also appreciate a man clad in a nice suit. I think it also depends on the message being conveyed in the photo. I love a hot warrior. lol

Here are two covers with half naked men that actually appeal to me:

Kiss of Snow (Psy-Changeling, #10) by Nalini Singh Burning Alive (Sentinel Wars, #1) by Shannon K. Butcher

Mmm, yes some sexy soul searching eyes are always a nice touch.

Terry (Ter05 TwiMoms/ MundieMoms) (ter05) | 608 comments One of my favorite covers with a guy ever - and he does have his shirt off but it's not the bare chested kind of shot. It's just powerful. Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick

And this one so set the hero in my mind and the rest of the books use the same model so it really works. Shirt on. LOL Hounded (Iron Druid Chronicles, #1) by Kevin Hearne

Alice (thegoodqueen) | 131 comments The young stud with a six pack is excellent eye candy. Some are also sexy but not necessarily. While the sexy man does not need a six pack or if he has, there is no need to show it. I am pushin' 62 & I always appreciate a sexy man, but I do love my eye candy.

Delaney Reimers (delaneyakafrog) | 347 comments I think for me it just depends. While a half naked guy can be pretty hot, sometimes it can also be pretty cheesy especially if it doesn't match the book. And I too agree that it takes a little extra for a guy fully clothed to be sexy and make me want to turn my head. They have to have the attitude for it but not come off as a jerk and know it all.
