Douglas | 28 comments Looked in on Cicero for the first time. The catalogue there is a real mess: By that I mean lots and lots of entries, many (lots) of the older entries with corrupt data, particularly letters with diacritics in titles are very hit and miss. Also to compound the difficulties there are many individual titles and additionally many compound (omnibus) editions; letters and speeches are divided up in different ways in different editions.
Should one embark on a cleaning up exercise ?
My courage fails :-(

Violetta | 477 comments Well, we've been slowly tackling the assorted works of John Harris et al. (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/7...), which is quite a marathon activity, so I'll be happy to help you out with Cicero when I can!

I'm starting to clean Cicero (even if I hated him in the High School).

Douglas | 28 comments I've also dipped my toes in the water, cleaned up a few entries (of modern reprints of old editions) where for some reason vowels with diacriticals were lacking in the title entries.
Sometimes I don't understand why things are the way they are ...

Douglas | 28 comments Maybe you can help with one problem: when I want to combine editions, and the specific editions involved are on different screen pages ...
I've added some Icelandic editions of Cicero; the principal entry for the work appears on page 1 of 2 and the Icelandic editions on page 2 of 2 (depending on the title of course). If I select the work on page 1, that selection has disappeared when I page forward to page 2. So that I haven't been able to combine the Icelandic edition with the principal entry.
Any suggestions/work-around ?

A work-around is to add something to the beginning of one title to get it on the same page. Combine them and then undo the title change.

Douglas | 28 comments Okay, thanks.
I should have had the wit to think of that ...
