I'm trying to read all his Myren Bolitar novels, but I'm afraid to try his others because I heard they're not funny, but they are scary.

I was hooked on Harlan Coben after the first few pages of Tell No One. I quickly read everything available at that time except for the Myron books - I'm a non-sports fan girl so why would I want to read about a sports agent! Was I wrong. Myron has become one of my most favorite characters and I was a little disappointed with the last book which seemed like the end of Myron and Win. I have not read the Mickey books yet, but I do have them on my Kindle and will get to them shortly. Coban books are well written and the story lines are easy to follow. The endings always seem to come out of no where which makes it the best kind of mystery/thriller.
Some of the books are suspenseful but certainly a good ride and the story lines are exciting and fresh. Coben is on of my top 10 authors and I will read anything he puts out. I have read a lot of crap and really love reading a good book so that is were Coben's books come in. Each time I open one of his books I know I will not be disappointed!
I love Harlan Coben. I also wondered whether I would like reading about a sports agent when I picked up my first Myron Bolitar book, but I loved the characters, the humour and the plots. The only novel by Coben I was a little disappointed with was The Woods. I can't put my finger on exactly why, but there were times when I struggled to maintain my attention on the plot. Perhaps it was because I guessed the ending almost from the start, I don't know what else to put it down to. The characters were fine and the story moved along at an excellent pace.
My favourite Harlan Coben books are also Tell No One and No Second Chance.
So (apart from The Woods)I would definitely recommend Coben to anyone who loves to read thrillers which tick all the boxes and more besides.

I love all his books, and I love the way the Myron Bolitar books have so much dry humour. Can't go wrong with a Harlan Coben story.
I love Harlan Coben and have read all of his books, they are all brilliant and I try to get them as soon as they come out (used to be "come out in paperback" now in Kindle version). They never seem to last long enough as I can't put them down.
i like Harlan Coben and his Myron books are fun reads. i usually like his standalones as well, tho i did not really enjoy his recent one Stay Close. maybe i am just getting bored of the same kind of theme over and over. domestic lives not as normal as they seem are upset by scary events and then a surprise ending from out of nowhere...
I like Harlan Coben. I love the Myron Bolitar books and have just about 10 minutes ago finished the last Myron book "Live Wire". Coben's stand alones are great suspense novels, however, I have felt recently like they are all very similar. I feel that the Bolitar books are far superior to his stand alones (and I'm not a sports fan).
I haven't read the Mickey Bolitar books and am not sure I will.
If you like Harlan Coben you may like Linwood Barclay. He is a Canadian author and writes similar suspense as Coben's stand alone stuff.

I love all of Harlan Coben's books - the Myron Bolitar series are just so well written and witty.
In fact, I'd go so far as to say that it's worth reading the first 3 Myron Bolitar books for the last few lines of book 3 alone!

I have read most of Harlan Coben's books and have enjoyed all of them. I really liked No Second Chance and Tell No One
If you like Myron Bolitar you will love Coben's stand alone books.
Happy Reading!

I rarely read mysteries but I just love Coben. The books are funny, well written and always interesting. I only discovered him at the beginning of June and since then I have read 7 of his books, 3 Myron's, 2 Mickey's and 2 stand alones. I am trying to read the Myron series in order so am now waiting for my next Mryon to be available from the library.
Coben! My newly discovered fave! Read my first Coben just last month and since then I've finished up 4 (3 of which were Bolitar series). I still think though that the series were better than the stand-alone.
I adore Harlan Coben & have read all of his books. While his Myron Bolitar series is my favorite, I also like all of his stand alone books. He has quickly become one of my favorite authors, and I recommend him to anyone who asks for a good book. The only problem now is that he doesn't write them fast enough. :)
I've only read a few books by Harlan Coben, he was recommended to me by a friend and I was really impressed, his books don't seem to be too dark or violent like some other crime writers and his books have comedy and humour and they're just a relaxing read. I already can't wait to read some more of his works.
The Myron Bolitar series is totally brilliant, it's got to be one of the most under appreciated cast of characters in modern fiction.
I love the relationship between Myron/Win/Esperanza and Big Cindi (as well as Myrons parents) but for some reason i just can't get into the cast of characters in the newer Micky Bolitar series.

I am jealous of anyone who has just discovered Harlan Coben I have more or less read everything he has done and never been disappointed trying to find a writer I enjoy as much is my current challenge.

I actually don't find many of Harlan's books scary, entertaining and real but not overly scary. I have since become a fan of JAmes Patterson & Lee Child

I love Harlen Coben, his book, his writing, his story & his characters. Mostly I read standalone books but now started reading Myron Bolitar series.
I really feel that hollywood director should look his book & made a feature film. He is totally worth.

No they're not scary and I prefer them to Myron Bolitar. I just finished Stay Close and it was brilliant. Bet you'd love it.

I have thoroughly enjoyed every book of his that I've had a chance to read. They are full of suspense and great reads.
Harlan Coben's books are really good. they are well worth trying. I got into his books after I saw the French film "Tell No One" which was based on his book. He does have some scary characters but the books are good.
I love harlan coben because he's a great writer and i love his books
Coben is, hands down, one of my favorite authors. I have enjoyed all of his books, but have a special fondness for the Bolitar books. Coben has built a wonderful cast of interesting characters with witty interactions. However, I wouldn't go so far as to say that if you like the Bolitar books you will enjoy the other Coben books as well. Although I like them all, they are really quite different. The non-series books are more serious and suspenseful, but non the less great books. Having said that, go for it...what do you have to lose?
I love Harlon Coben Books...I think I have read all of them except for the new one which I will be getting next week on my kobo :o) and I agree I do not think his books are scary...I also love Myron Bolitar and cannot wait for the next book when I have finished one...
All of his books are great reads...I have not found one that I did not enjoy...

I don't get the scary angle, at all. I find them very funny and frankly, if hilariously, absurd. The Myron Bolitar books are particularly funny. Look at the cast of characters, aside from the wise cracking Myron; there's Windsor Lock-Horne III, the preppy, financial consultant ninja assassin; Esperanza, the bisexual talent agent and former member of the champion female tag wrestling team of Big Cyndi (who looks and dresses like a rhino in a spandex tutu) and Little Pocohantas. Even the villains are funny; the Ache brothers? Coben must have some fun writing those. On the other hand, his novels like Tell No One, Caught, Hold Tight and The Innocent are tautly plotted mystery thrillers and gripping page turners but scary? Naah

Some, although not as funny, are still fabulous. I have read almost all of his books. They are incredible and I don't think any "scarier" than the Myron Bolitar series!
I dun read um all! The woods and Tell no one are very good. cant go wrong with any H.C.

Harlan Coben is a brilliant and entertaining author. Myron Bolitar on his own would be a great book but the other characters Harlan Coben added just make the books so fantastic to read. Who will Win cripple next time, how and why? And Myron's staff at MB Reps. What a winning tag-team combination. His other stand alone books are also great so no fears of being let down if you buy one.
I would not say they are all that scary. If you really like Harlan Coben then it will be worth a shot. I accidently stumbled onto him, thanks to a sales person at a book store and he has turned out to be one of my favourite authors among others. There are a few i really like, i like the Myron Bolitar series as I am familiar with most of the charachters. Eventually i will be like Chris and read them all. Just try it Steph and you would be surprised that it is not as gruesome as you thought it would be

I have also read most and enjoyed them all - lucky you I envy you having all those good books still to read!
Real life is scary, Harlan's books are entertainment. He is a great author and story teller.
Tell No One and No Second Chance are my two favorites from Harlon Coben too! I love his writing!
