It's a werewolf story that doesn't involve Twilight or anything related to it /s

I read it back in the late 1990's.

The main girl was turning into a werewolf but she wasn't completely aware of what was going on. She would have strange dreams and wake up in random places. Once she woke up in surrounded by blood and feathers and vomited, horrified to see that more feathers had come out of her mouth.

Unfortunately that's all I remember from the book.

It looks like by Annette Curtis Klause. The main girl, Vivian, was aware that she was a werewolf but she also had blank spaces and when she woke up she wouldn't remember certain things.

I've read Blood and Chocolate several times and it's not that one.
Skimming through the other two books it's not either of them.

I think that the book had a dark cover, almost all black. I could very likely be wrong about this detail.

Sounds similar to Year of the Cat except she's turning into a panther rather than a wolf.

Shiver isn't it. Looks like an interesting book though. And Dark Dreams isn't it either.

Do you remember if she is attacked in the beginning? Like bitten in the fight but doesn't associate that as a werewolf bite? Or she angers someone and is cursed? Or is it a family thing she doesn't know about? The scene seems vaguely familiar, but it's been a while since I read any werewolf stories myself.
