I have to admit that I'm not finished with this yet; I still have about 30% to go (the one problem I have with the Kindle is that there's no page count unless you're reading a pdf file). I'm finding it much harder going than I had expected, after hearing about the author's popularity and awards for crime fiction. It isn't that it's terribly complex--it isn't complex in the slightest--but the characters are dreadfully flat and uniformly uninteresting, and there's none of the tension or sense of urgency that a good thriller should have. So far, I'm vastly disappointed. Is anyone else having a different experience of reading it?
