This has definately proved to be a good sttategy, I have just finished Operation Mincemeat, it was brilliant - I highly recommend!

Did you start and finish this book in January 2012? If you did, zip on over to the January challenge, Food Glorious Food. You may as well include it for the challenge.
Oh, and when naming a title in your posts, please add it as a link by clicking on "add book/author" that shows on the top of the comment box.

Last night I started Antarctica on a Plate and today I will also start New Girl as I really should read & review it before the release date.

Kat could give us a recipe for penquin popsicles.

True! I didn't even realise that before - d'oh.
Don't know how tasty penguin popsicles would be Janice........

White Gardenia was without doubt the very best. I highly recommend it. The audiobook was fantastic. Shanghai and Harbin, China were so well described. A refuge camp in the Philippines and life in Australia too! Pls read this book, and listen to it as anaudio if you can. The narrator is Desire Rubenstein, the same narrator as the audiobook Mosaic: A Chronicle of Five Generations. I intend on reading more audiobooks narrated by this woman. You simply must chuckle at the American accents.
Well actually I have been in the hospital. With lousy vision I am trying my best to return to GR.
I will soon be starting Birds Without Wings. another audiobook. This one set in Turkey.

Susan, I was very naughty and went ahead and bought Biorsd Without Wings as an audiobook. I already have the paperback. And I had to pay two credits for it at Audible. I soooo want to read it!. I am a little worried I will have trouble with zll the characters; I cannot make notes. I can make them but cannot read them! The fun of audios is just sitting back and absorbing the whole experience.

Welcome back Chrissie! All the best for a speedy recovery :) and HURRAY for audiobooks!

The names in Birds without Wings are a bit tricky, but that is what the rewind button is for.

Now back to my old friends with ZombieDead :-D

Audiobooks are so NOT cheating. Audiobooks need even more time and sometimes more concentration than written books.

hey, I will clobber anyone who says audiobooks are cheating! Be prepared. Actually there is no way that audiobooks are cheating. You listen and suck on every single word. Skimming is impossible. I think some writers improve with narration. For example: I am currently listening to Birds Without Wings The narrator is great and each sentence has such superb irony you cannot help but smile. My type of humor. And it is about how in Gtrerce and Turkey the peoples of all different religions got along just fine. Great characters.

They do take more time. Sometimes I have to rewind and rewind. particularly in the beginning when you have to get stuck in your head who is who.

Glad you're enjoying it, Chrissie. And, yes, a really great narrator can add a lot to the story. They often say something in a tone that I would not have come up with in my head had I been "reading" it. A perfect example is Room by Emma Donoghue, in which Michal Friedman narrates the little boy's voice. She is phenomenal.

Hmm, I have been avoiding The Room. Now Iwill keep in mind what you have said.
I absolutely adore Birds Without Wings. Tell me pls. Are the main characters going to disappear and be replaced by others? Or do the central ones remain. i invest a lot of time meeting pêople so I know who they are. I feel this is essential when you begin a book.

This sounds like an interesting subject for a book. Although I sometimes feels that I am aging a year every day, but then I'm considerably older than Cameron.
