Have read over 1/3 of American Godsand have completly lost interest in the Novel, this book starts with a great story in the first couple of chapters but after that I cant warm to the characters and therefore am struggling with the read, also think would have been a good idea to do a little research on mythology before i started the book and may have helped me get into it more. I dont read fantasy novels so this is just not my cup of tea and looking at the ratings on Goodreads you either love it or hate it. I am throwing in the towel on this one as life too short to read what dont interest you, but can see why other readers will go mad for it. Have just started Gorky Parkso looking forward to this one.
Finished . . . The Little Book - Selden Edwards
A Redbird Christmas - Fannie Flag
Beastly - Flinn
Everything is Illuminated including the movie
Season of Migration to the North
Reading . . .
A Given Day - Dennis Lehane
Midnight at the Dragon Cafe - Bates
Galapagos
Finished Dream When You're Blue by Berg which was a well written but overly sweet story about three sisters on the homefront durng WWII. I found the twist at the end,a bit unbelievable. Once without hard feelings is believable. But twice? The book I'm starting ,which is on my to be read list is The Red Queen. So far so good.
Prior to Dream, I also read The Given Day. Loved the history and the characters, but for some reason it just wasn't a 5 star novel
I'm reading
, I'm reading it because I've had it for a long time and am trying to meet my goal of reading only books I own/have borrowed from someone lol
I just finished an egalley of Smuggled, which I enjoyed very much It is historical fiction about life in Romania and Hungary through the experiences of one Jewish individual, who as an infant was smuggled from Hungary to Romania to escape death at the hands of the Nazis. You experience life in Ceausescu's Romania, life behind the Iron Curtain and life after the barrier came down. The book covers the time period 1940s through to 1990. Here follows my spoiler-free review: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...Now I will start Running in the Family b/c I love memoirs, love learning about different countries, in this case Ceylon, and b/c it is short. I prefer reading on my Kindle.
I will now start The Kitchen House. Everyone has read it. Some love it, and I think for me this will be something to sink into. I just finished Running in the Family. I did have to struggle a bit, but by the end I was enjoying it and very happy that I had read it. It is a memoir about the author, Michael Ondaatje's family and living in Ceylon. My GR review follows: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...

I will indeed Chrissie.
I'm currently reading Little Princes: One Man's Promise to Bring Home the Lost Children of Nepal by Conor Grennan. A friend of mine gave it to me and I'm reading it much faster than I do most non-fiction books!
Started reading Incarceron earlier this evening, but just couldn't get into it for some reason... So I gave up, and started reading Finnikin of the Rock which I'm enjoying so far.
Finally finished The Red Queen by Gregory which was a harder read than The White Queen. The Red Queen is a religious fanatic with a Joan of Arc complex and the historical fact of her final victory is repugnant to me. I started and am 75 pages shy of finishing Fever Dream by Lincoln and Childs. As ususal the guys write a fast moving rip-roaring book.
Well, it's Preston and Childs, and I've finished Fever Dreams. The next one Cold Revenge is due out soon.Know what I'll be reading.
A Great Read! Just finished Between Shades of Grayabout a Lithuanian family sent to work camps in Siberia during the reign of Stalin and the Second World War. This is a shocking story simply told and a book that stays with you long after you have read it.
ok now that i see who peeta is for now, i just know the name and a small back story, why are you not behind the main character?
i dont know whos team i am yet. im still not really undrstanding the point of the book.. why are kids fighting to the death..do peeta and katniss fall in love? ah i wonder!
Team Peeta here:D I'm reading Gone Baby Gone, a mystery by LeHayne. Wish IEPs and the necessity of sleep weren't slowing down my progress
Hey Beth,You"ll know the answer to your question by the end of Mocking Jay...
The kids are fighting to the death to provide their districts with enough food for a year's survival. It's also away for the Capitol to assert authority over the Districts.
Just started reading Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater... Enjoying it so far & looks like this is going to be a quick read! ;)
Finished Gone Baby Gone by Dennis LeHayne. Excellent gritty novel about kidnapping and child abuse which raises alot of questions about doing the right thing and following the law.
I'm currently reading "Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin. I'm a fan of fantasy, and a co-worker of mine recommended Martin. I can't believe it took me this long to read his work. I really love it. Now I can enjoy the HBO series that is about to start.
I've just finished reading 'Mystic River' by Dennis Lehane - It's been adapted into a film (which I haven't seen yet), but i'd definitely recommend the book. A cracking read!
Finished 3 books by Dennis leHane in the last month or so,Shutter Island, Gone Baby Gone, aqnd Sacred. All were good. My latest read however is The Scent of Lightening and Rain by Nancy Pickard. While not as gritty and gruesome as Lehanes, Pickard tells a good story with engaging characters that also explores the bigger issuses of revenge and forgiveness.
Right now I'm reading City Of Fallen Angels by Cassandra Clare and it is AWESOME!! Anyone who hasn't read the Mortal Instruments series go and get City of Bones. I obviously am reading COFA because it is next in the series.
just started Defiance in the Strange Angels series. If nobody has ready them they should. They are very addicting. =)

I am getting ready to read The Red Wolf (can't find a link to the book or the author.) I just read The Postcard Killers and loved it and wanted to read something else by her. Has anyone read this or any of her other books? Will I miss something by starting with this one?
I am reading "Tangerine" by Edward Bloor...I am reading this because i have finished reading all my other books from the library, and now I am starting to read what my brother checked out from the library...I'm almost done! and it's getting kind of intense, but the beginning was slow, but intriguing!
