I quickly gave up on "Exit Lines" and have moved on to "Lives of Girls and Women" by Alice Munro. This book has been floating around in my to read piles for over 15 years. Can you be a true Canadian book lover and never read Alice Munro?

Never rated The Lost Symbol last nite, cos I couldn't get into it. Maybe his last 1 I just can't understand. Might need to read it instead of listening to.
Finished reading The Girl Who Played with Fire, 4 stars, and The Man in the Picture, also 4 stars. Presently, I am reading Jarrettsville by Cornelia Nixon.
Finished the irresistible inheritance of wilberforce yesterday. Actually started it yesterday too and couldn't put it down. Fantastic book but very dark.

It's the only one of his I haven't read yet. Next time it's in the library I'll read it. I've enjoyed the darkness of his last two not sure if I'll enjoy the comedy so much.

Thanks. Now reading American wife by Curtis Sittenfeld
I'm reading Eat, Pray, Love One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia at the moment and struggling with the section in India. Not sure this book is for me really.
I am almost done with Some Things That Stay by Sarah Willis. I wanted to read it because it received such great reviews. When I'm done, I will be starting The Sugar Queen. I really liked Garden Spells, so looking forward to The Sugar Queen!

I thought Labyrinth is a great story and definitely redolent with the unique atmosphere of the Carcassonne landscape. I find myself wanting to visit the place just to experience the way in which it is portrayed as dominating everything that surrounds it - something timeless and indestructible. In the story however I found the denouement very disappointing. It seemed to lose its sense of direction when the reader needed it most. For this reason I have avoided reading the second of Mosse's books.
Just started "Purple Hibiscus", Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie's first novel. read here second novel "Half a Yellow Sun" back in 2007 and loved it so I hope this book is as good.

I recently got both these book through a bookswap site. I haven't read either yet. I know that they don't have anything to do with each other, but I'm curious as to which one you think I should start with. If you would be so kind as to let me know once you get done with Purple Hibiscus, I would be very appreciative!
Just finished Jarrettsville...4 stars...have not read many (if any) Civil War Era stories and I ended up really enjoying this one! Now onto Chasing Windmills and Shop Class as Soulcraft An Inquiry Into the Value of Work.
I'm currently reading Julia's Chocolates for another group discussion. I picked the book because I really enjoyed one of her other books. I am near the end of this book and it has kept me very interested. I didn't realize when I picked the book that it was centered around domestic violence but I'm glad it was. I've faced that demon in my own life and I might not have read the book if I knew how much it went into it, but it in hindsight I'm glad it did.
Just finished listening to Red Dragon - Thomas Harris and now I am listening to The Silence of the Lambs - Thomas Harris.
Just finished listening to The Silence of the Lambs - Thomas Harris. In the morning I will listen to Hannibal - Thomas Harris.

So far I really like it. I find it a bit slower than HYS and all the Nigerian words (without explanation) are a bit confusing, but the overall story is great.
Recently finished Shop Class as Soulcraft An Inquiry Into the Value of Work, 3 stars, and Chasing Windmills, 4 stars. Now reading The Double Bind by Chris Bohjalian.
Last month in the bath I started The Comfort of Strangers - Ian McEwan so I will carry on reading that today as its only 100 pages. Then I will read Poor Little Bitch Girl - Jackie Collins.
Pillars of the Earth and the conclusion to that book; World Without End by Ken Follet are my two favorite books of all time. I hope you enjoy them as much as I have.
I've recently read Rebecca by Daphne du Maurier, Faceless Killers by Henning Mankell, and Murder on the Eiffel Tower by Claude Izner and am still on a mystery run with Hidden Moon by James Church which I started this morning.
Just finished a book about modern Africa an now it is on to a Spanish swashbuckler - Captain Alatriste and "Purity of Blood"
I loved Wonder Boys. Next up is Ian McEwan's In Between The Sheets. I've read Atonement (which I loved) and First Love, Last Rites. I'm trying to read through his works chronologically.

I have to laugh because when I saw this was seemingly going to be our November read I went to the library and asked for it. They didn't have it and nobody had seemed to hear of it and then I got a call the next day because it came in as a new purchase and the lovely librarians knew that I had just asked about it so I got first dibs!
Well, I'm hoping to find a copy somewhere to be able to read it this month but meanwhile I'm reading Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick because my daughter managed to get a preview copy and she says it is "well good".
I just finished reading "Push" by Sapphire. Movie is coming out and wanted to read the book before the movie hit the big screen. This book made me cry. It is a very rude awakening to how others live.

This does not surprise me as when I went in to my local library to ask about Day by A. L. Kennedy (which had also won a prize) staff did not seem to know about it either.
I am reading Patient Zero A Joe Ledger Novel which is another club book selection for this month. It is about zombies, but zombies created by terrorists to attack the US. I am loving it.
I'm reading The Dark River by: John Twelve hawks because I loved the first book in the series and want to finish it.
Susanna wrote: "Next up is Ian McEwan's In Between The Sheets. I've read Atonement (which I loved) and First Love, Last Rites. Very good, but different from many of his others: not as dark, some satire and even a dash of magical realism. (My review is here: http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/...)
Finished reading The Double Bind and gave it 3 stars. Presently, I am very drawn in to Her Fearful Symmetry A Novel.
