How did you find out about Midnighters?

I was working at a bookstore, pretty bored, trying to pass the time. One of our responsibilities was to clean up after people who didn't put their books up, so while I was doing this, I stumbled across the first book in the series and thought the cover was awesome... And the title: The Midnighters. Then I read the synop on the back, and I was sold.

I don't know about anyone else, but I was the biggest Power Rangers fan when I was little (Mighty Morphin') so I love anything that makes me feel like a superhero, and this book filled my need without a doubt (as did Peeps a week later). I was pacing my room, frantically flipping pages, but not wanting to turn them too fast because then it would all be over. Suspense, romance, kicking-butt, dark creatures in the night, 13-letter words, and cool super-powers. What didn't these books have? Needless to say, my chance encounter with this book led me to being a huge fan of Scott Westerfeld, and I'm eager to see a movie-version come out in the future.

So that's my story, and now I'm just curious to see how everyone else came upon this most intriguing series.

my friend let me borrow a copy of the first midnighters book, cuz she was like, "i think you'd like this", and then i was like "OMG THIS IS BY THE SAME AWESOME PERSON WHO WROTE UGLIES!!!" so i read it and it was AMAZING!! XD XD XD and then of course i read the other two books and they were also amazing!! i like them better than uglies.

someone gave it to me and it's been sitting on my shelf for a year before i got to read it and enjoyed it! now i'm haunting bookstores for the second book. is it just 3 book series, anyone?
