Ha! I just realized that I've been calling the Godfather award the Grandfather award.

I think "Grandfather" as well.

I think it is because of the practice of bringing "into the fold" older things that don't fit the current rules and allowing them to count. Am I making sense?

e.g. There is a woman that smokes in our apartment complex. The rules have changed since she has lived here to be a non-smoking facility. She is still allowed to smoke because she was doing so before the rules changed. She was "grand-fathered in".

Reading only part of a book and having it count, is grand-fathering it in.
