This charming little book is soooo interesting--I can probably dine out on the food etymologies--until I become a complete bore, telling everyone where this or that dish got its name, until I am not invited any more. But, really, I love it, will probably give some to foodie/wordie friends for the Holidays.

I usually classify little factoid books like this as "bathroom reading" but I absolutely loved this one. My fiance worked as a chef for many years and I grew up working in restaurants of all sorts. This combines my love of etymology and my love of food! Agrees with you that it will definitely be making its way to friends and family as holiday gifts.
