can't get ADE to recognize my nook

I've got Adobe Digital Editions dl'd okay, borrowed some books from my library w/ no problem -- but can't get ADE to 'see' my nook. Tried the trouble shooting on the B&N site -- any suggestions from someone who's solved a similar problem?

So frustrating. Thanks in advance. :)

This is the reverse of the advice I usually see, but for ADE to recognize my Nook, I have to plug the Nook in first and then open ADE.

And ADE and the Nook have to be registered with the same information, though I'd assume the troubleshooting already told you that.
