Cindy C, do both books have the same cover? Because there's no cover on the combined editions now, since the Kindle one is the most popular.
Otherwise it's done.

message 123: by Kay (new)

Kay | 1 comments I have an un-combine request, please. I was trying to add "Noah's Garden" and "Planting Noah's Garden" by Sara Stein to My Books, and they come up as two editions of one book. They're two different books.

Thank you!

Metaphorosis (metaphorosisreviews) | 61 comments I request that the following two editions be combined:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13...

I haven't found how to do this myself, but I'd appreciate any advice on how to do so.

Thanks!

Thank you. I'd also like to create a series ("Four Seasons quintet") and mark the book as the first in the series.

Series created and book is the first in it.

message 129: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Bertsch (philosophe) The following are all listings for the same book:

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/98...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/99...
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10...

The author has asked that they be combined. The first, 11431709, is the correct copy and has the correct ISBN.

They all show the same reviews, etc. Could a senior librarian please delete the excess listings?

Thank you for your help.

One was a duplicate, and I merged it. The others are all correct editions (paperback, Kindle edition, and ebook (Nook) edition) and are already combined. We don't delete valid editions, so all three will remain.

message 131: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Bertsch (philosophe) Thanks, Rivka. I'll explain this to the author.

Rivka, this is still incorrect. Two paperback editions are still showing, attached to The Tuzla Run. One simply clicks through to an announcement saying that the system cannot find the book. I assume that this is the one you removed. It should not still be appearing, under 'additional editions', because you removed it.
Also, there is no such thing as a Nook edition. It is simply the same ebook...sold by a different retailer. Please remove it. It is not a separate valid edition. If it was, there would also be editions listed for Kobo, Diesel, Sony, and Apple, as the ebook is also sold by those retailers, in their distinctive formats, (as are most ebooks).

message 133: by Renske (new)

Renske | 12222 comments The other editions part on a book page has a catch, but the book is deleted.
As the ebook edition for the Nook has an own identification number it is added as an other edition.

message 134: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
Renske, the word is "cache".

Wendy, Renske is correct. The extra paperback edition has been deleted, but because all book pages have a cache of a couple days, it will be there as a phantom for a bit.

And she is also correct about the Nook edition. It has a unique identifier (starts with 294), and we will not remove it, just as we don't remove the Kindle edition.

Actually, it sounds like there is a missing ebook edition, one that starts with the traditional 978. I have added that as well.

message 135: by Renske (new)

Renske | 12222 comments Thank you Rivka, for that kind of errors a spell checker doesn't help.

message 136: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
Yup. And it's not a commonly-used word in daily speech -- just in computerese. ;)

message 137: by Wendy (new)

Wendy Bertsch (philosophe) Thank you, ladies, for clarifying how these things are handled in Goodreads Librarianland.

Perhaps I can help, then, by pointing out that the word cache is really quite common. It derives from the French, and refers to hidden storage of goods. In computerland, it is used in the sense of hidden data storage.

message 138: by rivka, Former Moderator (new)

rivka | 45177 comments Mod
Unless you are describing treasure-hunting or weapons storage (and except in Montana, I don't think either of those are everyday conversations either), I don't think it would come up too much in that context.

I believe, however, that libri is among those sites librarians can't source covers from, so I found the image elsewhere.

Amara Tanith (aftanith) Are you sure they're the same book? The covers show different subtitles.

Edit: I can't find anything to imply they're not the same book, so presumably she just changed the cover at some point. They're now combined.

message 149: by Melody (new)

Melody (runningtune) | 13300 comments No - no one has done it. The authors need to be merged first and since she is a goodread's author a GR staff member needs to do it. I've put the request on this thread

message 150: by Amara (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) #159's done now, at least.
