Sarah Gross (thereadingzone) | 34 comments I figured that now that we have 71 members, it might be nice to introduce ourselves. You know, before we start arguing about Katniss, Gale, and Peeta.

My name is Ms. Gross and I teach English at High Tech. I teach World Lit to the freshman and one section of English IV. I am a voracious reader!

Hi! I'm Elizabeth, and I am a freshman at Biotech. I love reading, even though sometimes I don't have enough time to read.

Michelle Lampinen | 23 comments My name is Ms. Lampinen, but everyone calls me Ms. Lamp. I teach frosh English, frosh Digital Literacy, and junior IB English at Biotech.

I love reading and have made a conscious effort to make time for pleasure reading over the past couple of years. I'm so excited to discuss The Hunger Games, and I really can't wait for the movie! The trailer was amazing!

Also, I tend to go overboard with exclamation marks when posting online. I'm aware of the situation and have determined that there's not much I can do about it!

Sarah Gross (thereadingzone) | 34 comments Ms. Lamp, I also go overboard with exclamation points online (and in text messages)! :-D

Random Uncreative | 2 comments Hi, I'm Erika, and I'm a freshman at Biotech. I enjoy reading (if the book is any good) and enjoy criticizing things whenever possible. So, even though I don't like The Hunger Games, I'll probably join in on the discussion anyway.

message 6: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Lampinen | 23 comments Erika,

You should definitely join in the discussion- it'll make it much more interesting!

message 7: by K. Anne (new)

K. Anne | 21 comments I'm Kiera.

I am insane, and I love reading, and I loved the hunger games. I read it for the first time for a book club back in middle school so this is going to be fun.
I'm a sophomore but I don't like that name, I am trying to come up with a better name.

message 8: by Connor (new)

Connor | 2 comments Hey everyone! I'm Connor and I am a senior at Biotech. I love reading (of course) and physics. My favorite genre is dystopian fiction, but I also enjoy fantasies, plays, and poetry. If I could, I would teach high school physics and English as a future career, but I'll probably have to stick with physics :)

message 9: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Lampinen | 23 comments Kiera, do you dislike the word sophomore because it's too sophomoric?

(I should have warned you that I love bad jokes!)

Connor, you can have your students read novels relating to physics and show them the humanity of science. You can definitely blend both interests. :)

message 10: by Annie (new)

Annie Shi | 15 comments Hello~ I'm Annie and a sophomore at High Tech :D
I need to read and write more and continue my procrastination on math and science hw (psh, those subjects, haha).

I love fantasy books and am currently attempting to get somewhere with Kat Lin's (classmate) fiance, aka my genderless 1/2000 formed child... Sorry, we're a crazy bunch at hths... :P

Oh, and Hunger Games were awesome. Kept me less bored all during my trip to China.

message 11: by Athul (new)

Athul | 14 comments Hi! i'm Athul and I am a High Tech Freshman. I love reading mystery stories, but have a sweet tooth for fantasy ( Harry Potter, Percy Jackson... you know the drill). i also enjoy writing, but stink at writing thrillers , so I mainly stink to sappy romances ( though in a majority of them , people die at the end- VERY painful deaths). I know , i'm weird. My literary inspirations are Luna Lovegood and William Darcy.

message 12: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Lampinen | 23 comments <3 Mr. Darcy <3
Have you read Paper Towns by John Green? It's a mystery AND a romance!

message 13: by Gen (new)

Gen Mclaughlin (gendereuphoric) | 2 comments Hi, I'm Maura, and I'm a Biotech sophomore. I like reading all sorts of things (ranging from T. S. Eliot to WoW novels...) and I really like writing! Right now I'm attempting to get through Brave New World, and I wish I had more time to read it. I loved the Hunger Games and can't wait for the movie.
Can't.
Wait.

message 14: by K. Anne (new)

K. Anne | 21 comments MAURA!!! Hey. Remember book club 8th grade?

message 15: by Gen (new)

Gen Mclaughlin (gendereuphoric) | 2 comments I do! That was so much fun, I miss Mrs. Harry and everyone. Did you know Danielle Griggs goes to Biotech, too? :D

message 16: by Vanya (new)

Vanya | 3 comments Hi Guys,

I'm Vanya and do I need to say it? I LOVE to read. I tend to like mysteries and dystopian novels, but I'm not really picky. I'll read almost any genre.

message 17: by Kayla (new)

Kayla Gentile (kayroseg) | 8 comments HI!! wow this is really late (probably the first thing I can say about myself is I'm a chronic procrastinator) I go to High Tech. Reading is my absolute favorite thing to do, but I am picky. I actually wasn't sure I was going to liek the Hunger Games, because dystopian isn't normally my thing but I loved it! Now I'm trying to be more outgoing with my genre selections :o)
