ISBN I3 # 9780143055068

It is my belief that the current entry for ISBN # 9780143055068 has incorrect information. The number of pages are listed as 240, and the first year of publication is listed as 1988. I have an edition of Stones with this exact ISBN # that has 159 pages and was originally published in 1981, though 1988 is mentioned as a following publishing year. The cover is exactly the same, and both are published by Penguin Canada as a Modern Classic.

I would update the current entry for this book, however I am permitted only to alter the meta data, which for my purposes is useless. I have made this alternate entry in the hopes that this correct information will eclipse the former, but I am not allowed to enter the ISBN # because the original (wrong) entry has claimed it, and so my new entry for this volume is not counted as an edition as I had hoped, but as a separate work not related to the other publications of Stones.

Suggestions would be appreciated.

Page numbers are often wrong - amazon has a lot of bad data. World cat agrees with you on the 159 page count so I have changed that.

The original published year as far as I can see from World Cat, Library of Congress and the British Lib all have 1988 but since you have a copy in hand I have changed that also

Edit: When new books/editions are added they need to be combined posting a request with links in the librarians group and someone will do it

Thank you. I have applied for librarian status so that I can make verified page changes myself without harassing people. I triple-mega-checked the flyleaf on the publication date, and it reads:

First published in Canada by Clarke Irwin & Company Limited, 1981
Published in Penguin Canada paperback by Penguin Group (Canada), a division of Pearson Canada Inc., 1982, 1996
Published in this edition, 2008

Since there is already a field for the 'this edition' year of publication, I took the 'original' publication date to mean the first time it was published as a work.

Correct, but that information is not always in a given edition of a book.

This is true, thankfully it was available for this one. The original entry post must have read it incorrectly.
