~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I was just looking at these on Flavorwire not 5 minutes ago and thinking about posting. You scooped me, Pi!

(I want Normal Mailer's apartment, I really do).

Phil | 11837 comments All these pictures of libraries, and still no one has posted just a simple picture of a Kindle.

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments I also notice a dearth of celebrity bathroom pictures. Doesn't mean they aren't useful in their own way.

message 6: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I wouldn't know, having never used a celebrity bathroom.

message 7: by ~Geektastic~ (new)

~Geektastic~ (atroskity) | 3205 comments Or bathrooms in general. I only said celebrity because the library photos are all of rooms belonging to famous people.

Sarah | 13814 comments Amber ~Geektastic~ wrote: "Or bathrooms in general. I only said celebrity because the library photos are all of rooms belonging to famous people."

But they're famous libraries belonging to famous writers, which makes a certain amount of sense.

I also enjoy seeing the kitchens and fridges of chefs. Julia Child once famously opened her fridge for Robin Leach to reveal nothing but mayo and beer.

So...famous bathrooms for... Joe the Plumber? Janet Leigh? Arthur?

It was a weird comparison, but basically a fantastic library is great for many reasons, but a Kindle is useful the way a bathroom is useful. It's not an item of show or something collected for it's beauty, but it is useful in it's own way. Hence, tons of pictures of actual libraries, none of Kindles.

I like Mailer's apartment, except for that shade of green. The top photo looks like some stacks of books in my abode...

Riona (rionafaith) | 488 comments My father inspected Norman Mailer's apartment when it went up for sale! He didn't mention the library being so amazing...

Which of Rudyard Kipling's houses is that? One of his houses, in Vermont, you can rent out by the night or the week.

Sarah | 13814 comments These are writing spaces, not libraries, but they're still fun to look at.

Michael Swanwick - I like his pose, too.

Samuel Delany's is cool but I can't get the code to work.

Phil | 11837 comments Delany.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments What's with all the bright green paint? Swanwick and Delany too.

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah | 13814 comments A good question. I might also ask what's with the flying snake-dragon on Swanwick's shelf.

Yes... or the Repentant Magdalene....

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments ...or any of the many other La Tours in which the light source is depicted in the composition. Good painter. Repetitive, but it's a neat effect.

Success has a thousand mothers. Failure has a thousand fathers. Mediocrity has several hundred uncles.

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Mediocrity is the third cousin of sloth, who is the genderless offspring of pride.

Pride goeth before a fall, but it is a wise person who goeth before a 5-hour car trip.
