Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) What are your reading challenges or goals for 2012? Do you want to read a certain number of books, or more books from a particular genre? Discuss here!

Tina Watson | 222 comments Not sure how my reading will go.
I'm doing ok with reading my Amish books since I've started my new job in September.
But pinching pennies soon to even buy 2012 books. Guess I'll be going to the library to get my books.

I think I'll try for 50 again in 2012. It was so nice to actually meet a goal!! I'll probably be having to take on a second part-time position since my hubby lost his full-time job, so my reading time may not be what I had this year.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I upped my 2011 goal from 100 to 125 to 130 and I'm currently on 126. I'm in the middle of reading several books so I'm definitely going to hit 130 so I think I'll aim for 130 again next year. I don't want to aim higher but I'll stick with what I know I can manage. When I graduate from university in 2013 I know that my reading pace will change but for now it'll probably stay the same.

Diane U (djuseless) I'm going to try 50 which was my original goal for 2011 but I changed it in September.

Hannah (hannahtb12) | 21 comments So far this year, I met my Goodreads challenge of 50, and have added 3 to that! I'm going to strive for 50 again next year, but I know it will be hard b/c it is my last 2 semesters of school to get my RN/BSN. Maybe I can count NCLEX books! ;)

Tina Watson | 222 comments I too changed my goal this year a few times and in the end I'm over my goal.

This was my first year making a goal and my first year joining Goodreads; glad a friend told me about this site.

Still unsure of my goal for 2012.

message 11: by Janet (new)

Janet | 153 comments I am going to strive for 75. I did more than that this year but things have changed in my life so I don't think I am going to be able to read as much, I am also going to branch out and do some monthly challenges - reading a book by the first letter of the month, charcters with my fist name, etc. So many options so little time! Good luck to all.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Ok so I have kind of a possibly silly question. But, for 2011 I've been using the GoodReads 2011 book challenge widget thing to track the number of books I have read. Is there one where we can set our goal for 2012? Because I can't for the life of me find it...Am I crazy? Or does it just not exist?

Maybe it will show up after the 1st?

Shaz (zabooksihaveread) | 74 comments Camille I am also interested to know if there is going to be a 2012 reading challenge widget. It is a great way to keep track of how well you are doing in the reading challenge.

My reading goal for 2011 was 125 and I completed the challenge. I am setting myself a goal of reading 125 books again in 2012.

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Just checked and it's showing up now! Scroll down on the home page and it should be somewhere on the right hand sidebar :)

message 16: by Kav (new)

Kav | 28 comments I have a long bus commute this year due to a job change so that's brought me even more time to read. I'll set my goal for 150 books which is about what I did this year. and I definitely want to stay current with Amish fiction and catch up on the ones I haven't read from previous years since I'm fairly new to the genrre.

Camille (camlovesraptors) | 802 comments Oh, on the topic of 2012, I wanted to say happy 2012 to everyone! I hope we all have a blessed year!

How did you all spend your evening ringing in the New Year? I went to my best friend's apartment in L.A. and we spent the evening on our pajamas catching up, and watched the ball drop. We also planned a fun trip on Leap Year's Day! We're going to attend Disneyland's 24 hour celebration! So excited!

Sarah (misscalico) | 128 comments My goal for 2012 is to read 50 books... I'm not sure if that's too daring or too safe!

How's everyone doing with your reading challenge? I'm back on track -- only 7 more to go. I should make it. I'd like to pass last year's total, but don't know if I can at his point, but I hope so. :-)

message 21: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I'm fourteen away from meeting my goal. GoodReads tells me that I'm four books ahead, but it still seems like a lot to read before the end of the year! I'm partway through four or five books, and I have two whole weeks after exams before the end of the year, so I might still make it!
