Brenton made his way through the castle, whistling a soft tune to himself to keep his mind on track. When in doubt, whistle. He also held on to the strap of the dark brown leather messager bag he had slung over his lankyier shoulders, just to keep his hands from shaking. Once he'd come to the portrait, he smiled at the fat lady, currently reading a novel in her chair. "Hello. Although I am not a Gryffindor, there is one inside, and she's supposed to be meeting me to go to Hogsmeade today. I don't suppose you'd let me in, if I promised to bring you something when we get back here?"
The Fat Lady seemed to ponder the young boy for awhile, but she did finally nod. "You can't step inside, but I will open so you can get her to come out. I like cake." She reminded him with a stern, high voice, before proceeding to swing her large portrait inward.
He smiled and thanked her politely before leaning his head inside. He couldn't see her, but he called her name. "Evangeline. It's Brenton." He called.

Evangeline jumped as she heard Brenton's voice echoing from outside the portrait hole. She gathered up her things off the arm of the chair, flicked her hair back over her shoulder, and straightened her scarf. She moved over and stepped out of the portrait hole, giving the Fat Lady as smile as she went past. She smiled happily as she saw Brenton waiting for her. "Hi!" she said breathlessly. She didn't know what to do, but it felt a little awkward just standing there smiling at him, so she stepped forward and hugged him, hoping it wasn't too forward for their "first date". But it did feel so safe, being close to him.
Brenton smiled as she rounded the corner, looking much more beautoful than she did in her costume last night. He stepped back to let her out. His combat boots clicked on the stone floor and he smiled back at her. "Hello!" He said happily as she came out.
For a moment, he stood and smiled at her, because he didn't want to make any moves that might make her feel like he was too eager to rush, but when she stepped forward and wrapped her arms around his neck, his smile grew wider and he hugged her back warmly. As he breathed in, he smelled what could only be her hair, throwing out the scent of spices. "How was your night?" He asked as he leaned back slightly to look at her. The portrait closed behind them and the Fat Lady smiled at their embrace.

"Haha! No, it's still a surprise." He assured her, patting his bag absentmindedly. Her smile was so big that he couldn't help but return it in happiness. He could tell already that if there was anyone fit for a writing, Tom wearing, psychology loving, take-me-where-the-wind-blows, Muggle obsessed boy like Brenton, it would be her. "You'll love it though, I promise." He continued, taking her hand to walk down the corridor. "Tell me, do you like Apple trickle tarts and sweet tea? It's a Muggle drink. My parents adore it."

Secretly loving the expression on her face, Brenton's jolly face could only get happier as the day went on, he was certain. A secret surprise picnic with Evangeline, where they could eat breakfast together, and then a day out on the town. Maybe he'd even buy her something nice. He really liked her and wanted her to keep him around, so what better way for that to happen than to buy her something; his boyish logic figured. Her fingers were slender and a bit cold in his opinion so he stuck their laced hands inside his jacket pocket.
Today he was wearing his usual: Dark jeans, paired with a maroon t-shirt that fit him well, showing off his growing figure. - He was still lanky and a bit awkward, but he was growing out and gaining muscles... Not that he'd noticed. - and his favorite pair of leather combat boots, worn from the while he'd trudged around in them. "Really? Maybe I ought to meet your brother sometime... Just as long as he doesn't hate me." Brenton laughed, hating the idea of being hit by a protectice big brother. Nonetheless, he continued. "I'm glad you do! We're having some somewhere today. But that's all you get to know." He told her slyly.

Evangeline loved the snugness of their fingers together inside his jacket pocket - her fingers had been a little cool, it was very considerate of him to try and warm them up. She loved how he looked in the tight fitting jeans and T-shirt - they showed off his muscles. Not the biggest she'd ever seen, but she wouldn't want to go out with some huge dumb dude anyway. Brenton looked just right to her, handsome and intelligent. She hoped he liked her just as much. She hoped he liked her outfit, too - she liked this blouse, how it clung to her, and the scarf was one of her favorites, and she'd tried to color-match the leather boots and coat. "You should meet Kit!" Evangeline said, smiling. "Oh, he wouldn't hate you, of course not!" she told him, hurrying to reassure him. She considered what to say "You're both really wonderful, I'm sure you'd get along great. And he is protective of me, but in a nice way, not a mean way. He only wants what is best for me." She hesitated before continuing. "So... even if he didn't like you, he would see how much I like you, and keep it to himself," she said, smiling shyly and looking briefly down at the ground. Then she looked up again and laughed at his secretiveness, elbowing him playfully but gently in the side. She mock sighed. "I'm sure I can contain my curiosity until it happens." Then she became slightly more serious, and steeled herself to look up into his warm brown eyes again. "I know it will be lovely," she said, trying to put all her certainty and gratitude into the words, squeezing his hand lightly as she did so.
((Okay, I'll post at the Hogsmeade topic.))
Brenton laughed lightly at her words and nodded in agreement. "I understand. He sounds wonderful. Okay... Off we go!" He said happily at they sat on their way.

"What?! It's a funny word..." Ella muttered

"Hey... watch when you nod," Rogue said to Chilton sharply. She narrowed her eyes.
