Howdy ladies,
Since only a few people were able to participate in reading One Flight Up, we will do the discussion online through the forum. There are a few people still reading, so I'll post discussion questions next Thursday, Dec. 9th. If you haven't read the book, there's still time, most people were able to read it in a few days!

Happy Reading!

Which of the four main female characters do you relate to most? Why?

Which of the men of One Flight Up would be your top pick for a fling and why?

In many different media, men are typically the cheaters and the liars. Why do you think Fales-Hill constructed such a clear role reversal in One Flight Up?

Sage points out that women "trash their own dreams to make everyone else thrive." Do you think Sage is right? Why or why not?

What do you think the title of this book, One Flight Up, means?

I think I relate most to Abby because of her laid back personality. Also the way she interacts with her family and also how she views life.

I would choose Keith. It sounds like a poor decision but I wasn’t attracted to the description of Monique’s Latino EMT guy. Then old perverts and young immature guys turn me off; so Esme’s flings are a definite no. And Abby’s fling and his free spirit wasn’t my type at all. He appeared to be sweet guy however outside of the love of music we don’t seem to have anything in common.

This is a great question and I asked myself the same thing as I was reading. My assumption would be that she just wanted to switch things up a bit. Several novels highlight men cheating and the issues surrounding infidelity. It was refreshing to see someone take a different approach.

I definitely believe Sage is right. I don’t think I’ve necessarily trashed my dreams but I do think when you are in a committed relationship (especially when children are involved) priorities change. Its not necessarily about what you want or need as an individual. I speak from 1st hand experience. I was in grad school however when I had my daughter, my focused changed from obtaining a masters to finding a career immediately. Essentially women are givers and nurturers by nature so I would say Sage has a point.

I have no clue….When I first started reading I had an idea but now that I’m finished with the book and read it about a month ago, I’m not sure of the meaning.
