Sounds fine

Vicky (librovert) | 240 comments I was having trouble with Book 1 until I thought of the Iditarod (the 1k+ mile sled dog race across Alaska), so I thought I'd share some good links I found with both fiction & non-fiction books.

http://www.workingdogweb.com/SledDogB...
http://iditarodblogs.com/teachers/idi... - careful on these lists, some of them are primarily about Alaska and not dog sledding.

I'm having trouble deciding on a book now!

Sarah (moragepona) | 122 comments I'm assuming that It's Not Summer Without You would work for Book 2 as well, as The Summer I Turned Pretty was approved? Just in case it doesn't, however, would The Island work?

As for Book 1, I'm really not sure if I understood correctly what's asked, would either Chill Factor or Footprints in the Snow: How Science Helped Turn Tragedy to Triumph work? The second option I'd be reading in german, however. The title is more or less translated literally.

Hi Laurie, I was just wondering about "my" first book? Does either option work from post 53?

Chris (chrismd) | 1237 comments Would New Orleans during Mardi Gras work for Book 2? I picked up A Free Man of Color and thought it looked interesting. Now just need a place to fit it. Thanks.

Sarah (moragepona) | 122 comments I'm so sorry to ask again, is this Chill Factor ok too? I just saw the title on the approved list and assumed it would be that book, not realising there was another book by that title out there.

Meghan (meghanly) | 336 comments Does The Snow Child work for Book 1? The main characters build a child out of snow (which I think then comes to life, according to the GR description), which is a winter activity. Not the coming to life part, just the building a snow figure part. :)

And for Book 2: Thirteen Reasons Why is set in CA (or so I am told). Will this work?

Thanks!!

Both sound great to me - I'm going to add them to my list also

Liora (chinquapin) | 0 comments Could A Fatal Grace (Chief Inspector Armand Gamache #2) by Louise Penny by Louise Penny work for Book 1? This is a murder mystery where a woman is murdered watching a Curling competition out on a frozen lake.

Jayme Pendergraft | 762 comments Does this count? Fresh Powder

It seems to involve skiing.

If it does- it's free for Kindle right now.

Cindie | 1839 comments For part b, can I read Kosher Jesus by Shmuley Boteach? It takes place in Israel, which is rarely cold and where many people vacation to get away from the winter...a big part of it is desert, of course, and there are seaside resorts on the Dead See as well as the Mediteranean and Red Sea...
