This chapter is about enticing African American adolscent males living in low economic conditions to read. It talks about the fact that the solution to the achievement gap in reading with these young men are not cutting it. They are very passive solutions that don't really help the situation at hand. There is not that much research done on this group of young men, which contributes to the reason why we don't know much about how to fix the problem. We need to find texts that these young men can relate to and will enjoy reading.
