The Rancher's Courtship (Love Inspired Historical) by Laurie Kingery

How exciting to have Caroline Wallace, the heroine from THE RANCHER'S COURTSHIP, a November release from Love Inspired Historical, with us today.

1. Tell me the most interesting thing about you.

I'm the town schoolteacher, but I never planned to be a teacher. When I lost my fiance a year ago in an influenza epidemic, however, I decided to give the love I'd given Pete to the town's children instead.

2. What do you do for fun?

I spend time with my friends, the Simpson Creek Spinsters' Club, which has brought bachelors to a town devoid of single men after the Civil War. The club has brought about several marriages! My best friends in the club are Milly Brookfield, Sarah Walker, and Prissy Bishop, all of whom have made their own matches in previous "Brides of Simpson Creek" books.

3. What do you put off doing because you dread it?

Thinking about day that Jack Collier, whose twin daughters I have come to love as my own, leaves on his trail drive, and the day that he returns to claim his children and tells me he's married another woman in Montana.

4. What are you afraid of most?

That I made the wrong decision to give up on marriage. I dread growing old without a husband and children to love.

5. What do you want out of life?

As in #4, a husband and children to love, and knowing that I've made choices that would please my Lord. I want a deeper relationship with God always.

6. What is the most important thing to you?

Doing the right thing--making sure the children of Simpson Creek have the best education possible, making the right choice whether to let myself love again or not.

7. Do you read books? If so, what is your favorite type of book?

I'm a schoolteacher! Of course I love to read books! In my little Texas town in the 1860's, I don't have a lot of choice in books, so I'm not choosy. I'll read anything available at the time, such as A TALE OF TWO CITIES and IVANHOE.

I love sharing books with my Spinsters' Club friends, like fellow teacher Louisa Wheeler, and helping the man I've come to love, Jack Collier, the joy of reading a good book.

8. If you could change one thing about yourself, what would it be?

My tendency to be fearful of the future, which began when I lost Pete to influenza. I'd been such a carefree person before that, assuming everything would always go my way. I'd like to regain that carefreeness again, knowing that whatever happens, the Lord will go with me.

9. Do you have a pet? If so, what is it and why that pet?

No, no pets. You must have me confused with Prissy, in THE SHERIFF'S SWEETHEART (April 2011 LIH). She has a dog, Houston.

10. If you could travel back in time, where would you go and why?

I'd love to go back to the days in which Shakespeare set his plays. All that pageantry and gorgeous clothing! I suppose it's because I only wore mourning, before I fell in love with Jack Collier.
