The Waves is divided into nine sections. Each section begins with depersonalized descriptive prose followed by ‘dramatic soliloquies’.

January 2 – 8 Section 1 and 2. pages 3 - 53
January 9 – 15 Section 3 and 4, pages 54 - 110
January 16 – 22 Section 5, 6, and 7, pages 111 - 158
January 23 – 29 Section 8 and 9, pages 159 – 228
January 30 - Feb. 5 The book as a whole - Conclusions

These page numbers are based on the Penguin Modern Classics edition, 1992, with an introduction and notes by Kate Flint. If you are using other editions, these page numbers will likely be different. The descriptive prose passages which begin each section are italicized in the Penguin Modern Classics edition. If any of this is unclear, please send a message to the Moderator.

As mentioned elsewhere, to avoid spoilers, please be sure to observe the pages listed for the weekly threads and refrain from commenting beyond the highest page number posted.

IMPORTANT: These discussion threads will remain open indefinitely. If you find yourself behind in the reading or if you have joined the group after the dates listed above, go ahead and read at your own pace and discuss when you want. The moderator and other members will gladly join in!
