Hey guys! I'm new to the group, and I'll try to get something halfway-decent up soon! :)

Okay, here's one sketch, and I seriously mean SKETCH. It's just a quick drawing I made of my friend with obviously regular pencils, but the scanner made it look a lot lighter than it really is. http://s1085.photobucket.com/albums/j...
Is there any way to make the picture show up in the comment and not in a link?
I've always had some trouble with the whole shading thing... What technique do you use? I always tried shading lightly then rubbing it, which made it look pretty awful most of the time. Wow, it's great to get real feedback! Thanks!
(I just finished a Hunger Games drawing in a more-or-less cartoony style- I'll get it up as soon as I stop being lazy and actually walk upstairs to use the scanner :P)
'Kay, I greatly fear this may become one of those dead topics, so I'm gonna scan some stuff from my sketchbook on here RIGHT NOW!
Okay, here's one. Before you ask what the heck this is, I was experimenting more with drawing eyes, and I drew an okay eye, but I didn't like it because it was too different from my usual style. Then I drew an eye from side-view. Then I drew and eyebrow. And a nose. Forehead. mouth. outline of head. And that's basically all I have. It's VERY sketchy and it pretty much looks like a bald person (Did I mention I hate drawing hair?) with freakishly huge eyes. But enjoy!

I'll get the Katniss doodle up in a sec.
Here's the Katniss doodle. It's her right after her wedding dress turned into the beautiful mockingjay dress Cinna designed. This one's more cartoony, but I do like it :) http://s1085.photobucket.com/albums/j...
Ha, the eyes I draw are an arc and a dot of some sort. xD But, the eye is quite nice, I like it a lot. It's okay to branch from your usual style, experiments are experimental. But, I get what you mean. I always revert back to my usual style after an experiment. :P
Whee, Mockingjay dress. I have never been able to draw that thing. :P You captured it nicely. I also like your handwriting.

Thanks, Jia! The mockingjay dress is surprisingly one of my favorite parts in the series, despite all the suspense and action I could really be getting into. But seriously, all the fashion statements in the series are so strange I can't help but be facinated by it. Hey, maybe I should draw Katniss's prep team! :)If I ever want to change my style of drawing, it always takes me a REALLY long time to make that change stick. But I don't think I'll be sticking with the change that's in the first sketch I posted today.
No problem. I always loved all the parts when Collins was describing Katniss' clothes. :3 The prep team and Cinna are my favourite characters, good luck drawing them. I always had problems envisioning Capitol fashion, sometimes it was really outrageous, and I thought "how could someone wear that on a daily basis?" I wonder how much time it took them to get read in the morning. (Wait, they probably have a machine for all their hair and such. :P)
That's fine, just stick with the style that you find most comfortable. :)
