in my review of this book (which i did enjoy) i was ranting about wayne's sexism/transphobia/fatphobia, i.e. the machismo that on one hand manifests in his glorification of the "perfect" male body and on the other hand as disgust towards fat people, lesbians, transwomen, and un-macho gay men. anyway as i was thinking about it i realized that maybe there's a larger lesson here: if kurt was a nazi afterall, and wayne and his friends got along just fine with him until his treachery was confirmed beyond a shadow of a doubt, doesn't that tell us something about which elements of fascism are and are not acceptable among them?
