Sue Clinch's novel is a fascinating discussion of evil and the cylce of abuse we heap on each other. He takes a minor character in Twain's masterpiece and creates an entire world for this man. The issue of slavery and the complexities of black/white relationships is drawn so that the spector of self hatred that can cripple each of us, staggers us.

John Finn I is one of the really great evil characters, truly despicable and ultimately as evil is banal! The book however is fascinating and to those who read Huck Finn I'm sure it will bee even more. I really was riveted by this book.
