A belated happy Thanksgiving to everyone in this group (at least, to those who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday --I realize those outside the U.S. probably didn't). Hope that you all took time to reflect on how many things we all have to be thankful for!

I don't celebrate Thanksgiving as I'm from Britain but I have borrowed the idea of thanking God for my life and the past year and friends etc. I think its a great tradition and one that we Brits could really benifit from
Well, it goes back to the primarily English settlers in Plymouth who survived the first winter and wanted to thank God for their blessings, so...it's sort of English. Enjoy.
Happy belated Thanksgiving to everyone. I spent most of the last week in Northern Texas vising my adult children and their significant others. I had a blast and wished I could have stayed longer. Good news: They will all be home for Christmas. :)As a side note, I challenged myself to write a blog series during the month of November. While I didn't post each and every day, I did post thirty items I was thankful for:
Thirty Days of Thankfulness
Once again, in the U.S., we're celebrating our traditional November holiday of Thanksgiving, when we take time to take stock of and appreciate all the blessings we have. It's a day that should be especially meaningful to us as Christians, who know the Giver of our blessings and who have been given so much in Christ.Wherever you live, I wish you a wonderful day, filled with happiness and gratitude!
Best wishes in return Werner. And best to everyone else also.I have to go now. I do the cooking here :)
For those of us in the U.S., the calendar has again arrived at Thanksgiving day, one day in the midst of a busy year and busy lives when we're invited to pause, sit down and take grateful stock of all the blessings we enjoy, day by day, from the hand of a gracious God. That's a good thing to do, wherever in the world we live --and a good thing to do throughout the year as well. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all!
In the U.S., we officially observe Thanksgiving Day on the last Thursday in November (which falls on Nov. 27 this year). I want to wish all of our U.S. members a happy and healthy Thanksgiving, and to remind us to seriously take stock and thank God for all the blessings we have in our lives. (And for those in other countries who don't have the official holiday, that's a constructive thing to do at any time of year!)

I hope you will be blessed with all of your grandchickens running around and making all kinds of wonderful noise! xD Bless them!
Lots of prayer for a most wonderful and blessed time! *hugs* ♥
Thanks Werner and I'd like to wish happy Thanksgiving to everyone also.(If you're not American feel free to celebrate or not as you see fit, LOL.)
President Lincoln proposed the first offical Thanksgiving Day for the country surviving the Civil War/War Between the States.
Thanks, Elizabeth, and Urs. (And yes, we'll be having Thanksgiving dinner at our middle daughter's house, and there's no question that our grandkids will be making a lot of noise. :-) )
Once again, we're coming to the day (tomorrow) which is celebrated in the U.S. as Thanksgiving Day. For a lot of people, it's just an excuse to gorge on a big dinner --and my family will celebrate with one, too!-- but my hope and prayer for all the celebrants in this group is that we'll take the occasion to think seriously about all our blessings, and the kindness of God in giving them; and also consider the needs of those who aren't as blessed in material things as most of us are. (Even if you don't live in the U.S., that's a worthwhile thing to do every day!)
Thanks Werner. I happen to have a chapel service at the prison near us tomorrow evening. I thought they might cancel so more guards could take the day off but it looks like they'll let me in.Just my daughter and I doing the dinner (which is always too much as you pointed out). Making a turkey breast and some sides.
Happy Thanksgiving to all celebrating.

This is so wonderful, Mike. I'm glad you will be able to pastor over them.
Blessings to you and your daughter! HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

You're very welcome.
Another year has passed, and here in the U.S. Thanksgiving Day has come around again. Every one of us in this group (in whatever part of the world we live!) had much to be thankful for last year; and every day since then has brought us another day of God's kindness and care for us, in so many, many ways. I wish all the American members of the group a wonderful holiday with family and friends; and I hope that all of us as a group wouldn't take any of these blessings for granted, but rather take the time to give the Lord the heartfelt thanks and appreciation He deserves!
We're once again approaching the fourth Thursday in November, which those of us in the U.S. celebrate as Thanksgiving Day. But no matter what country we live in, or what season of the year it is, those of us who trust in the Lord and His salvation have much to be thankful for, whatever our circumstances. So I wish a happy Thanksgiving, filled with true gratitude and with God's grace, to everyone!

I let life stuffs take over and I abandoned this place. :( I need to get back in the swing, because CG is an awesome place. Please forgive me--I plan to get back in the swing soon, hopefully full swing by the new year. We all need encouragement, and I have failed with that around here. I am so sorry. I will make a big apology to everyone, once I get things together.
Take care! Love and blessings to you & Mrs. Barb and the whole family! ♥
Urs, love and blessings of the season to you and yours too! (Hugs you right back. :-) )You don't need to apologize, because we all know that life happens, and that it sometimes not only happens but runs you ragged! I'm also sometimes forced to neglect this group, and Goodreads in general, because of all that I've got going on in my face-to-face life. But we really do miss you when you can't post as often, and rejoice when you're able to.
Thanks Werner! Thanks for moderating this group! It’s a blessing to have groups like this, Christians helping Christians! It’s always great and God’s will for us to help others, but I’m sure Christians helping Christians please God in a special way!
Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Thank you, Brother. You're so wonderful. I am very thankful that God allowed our paths to cross. :)
Urs, you're sweet! I'm thankful for the blessing of your friendship, too. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, and the same for everyone in the group who celebrated the day.
Later this week, those of us in the U.S. will be celebrating Thanksgiving Day, a public holiday especially set aside as a day to consider our many blessings and to thank God for them. Of course, that's a state of the mind and heart that we as Christians should have every day of the year, whatever our nationality! But the designated day is a meaningful reminder; so for those who join me in celebrating it, I wish you a truly thankful, blessed and meaningful time, filled with the fellowship of family and friends.
Another year has passed; and a week from today, Christians (and others disposed to be thankful) in the U.S. will again be celebrating Thanksgiving Day. Weather permitting, I'll be offline and out of town on that day, visiting family. But I want to take the opportunity now to say that those of us in this group who celebrate the day have so much to be thankful for: salvation and all the spiritual blessings that come with it, our families, great material abundance even if we aren't what our pampered culture considers wealthy, and the benefits (which we'd be wise not to take for granted) of much greater physical safety, religious and political freedom and civil liberties than most people in the world are allowed to have. It's my wish for us all that we genuinely give thanks for these gifts, and have a wonderful day honoring Him "from whom all blessings flow."
The same to you Werner, and to everyone. We "plan" to spend the day with some friends giving thanks...and of course eating far more than is good for us.God bless and keep.
To celebrate Thanksgiving, my latest book, Are We the Terminal Generation?, is free as an ebook download this weekend on Amazon from 11/29-12/3/19. Happy Thanksgiving!
2020 has certainly proven to be one of the grimmest years in living memory, with a worldwide deadly pandemic still raging, economic hardship on a massive scale, and racial and political strife rising to fever pitch. None of these problems seem to be abating soon; and as the U.S. prepares to celebrate its traditional Thanksgiving holiday, most Americans are under severe restrictions on travel and social gatherings, which play havoc with the traditional family celebrations that to many people have always been inseparable from the holiday. And yet through all of this, God has been working in myriad ways to heal, bless, protect and sustain his people, both on a large and a small individual scale. Every one of us in this group (of whatever nationality) has special providences of God, in the past year and the present, to be thankful for tomorrow, plus --above all-- the gift of forgiveness of sin and the blessed hope of the coming Kingdom. May all of us, not just here in America but around the world, take time to be thankful for these tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving to each and all!
