Buddy Reads
One of the Kindle daily deals today, at least in the US, is Girls Like Us: Carole King, Joni Mitchell, Carly Simon - and the Journey of a Generation for $2.99. Would anyone be interested in buddy reading it with me?

Saumitra wrote: "was wondering if anyone would be interested in the Dune series?"Who's the author? I wouldn't mind reading a new author and series. Message me with the author name and I will start with you.
Hi Tru, Dune series is but Frank Herbert. finished the first book in the last couple of days as i am traveling and the flight was pretty long! Will set up a thread.
Some of us have been discussing reading The Song of Achilles. I thought I'd post here to see who is interested and when we can read it so we don't clog the nomination thread up (especially as we can't use it for the theme). So who's in?

I'm interested in the buddy read for Song of Achilles, but the timing might make a difference in whether I participate. Lately I seem to have to be in the right mood for a book.
Yes, I will join the buddy read for Achilles. I can't remember why I did not read it with the group before. I was probably obsessed with something else. Any time is good for me. I have to locate a copy.
Any time is fine for me too. Maybe someone with a less flexible reading schedule can suggest a date?
Bella wrote: "The Song of Achilles is on sale at B&N and Amazon for 99 cents."Oh, thank you, Bella! I just jumped over and got a copy for my Nook. I am ready when everyone else is. :)
I will join as well. I am good anytime, but my kids start back to school on the 7th so I will have more time after that.
I was going to say the 3rd but 7th works too - I was trying to keep it as far away from the toppled as possible.
Are we talking August or September? I thought August but kids here don't go back to school until 1st of September (not sure if Amanda's start 7th of august or also september), so just want to make sure I start reading in the right month ;-)
Any time in August would work great - I'm all for starting the early part of August if that's works for everyone - no preference on start date.
Anyone want to do a buddy read of one of the books that made the Booker Prize Longlist? It can't be Did You Ever Have A Family by Bill Clegg- at least for me- because its release date says September 15, 2015. Sleeping on Jupiter by Anuradha Roy is also something I can't do- no ebook available in the US.
I'm kind of partial to A Brief History of Seven Killings by Marlon James or A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara. A start date late August- after the 20/21- would work best for me.
I would have to wait until after the toppler though, maybe towards the end of the month. Would that suit?
I know it's still a long way off, but I wondered if anyone fancied buddy reading The Passage with me in October. I've had it on my book shelf for ages and it's a dead tree book so I need to read it and get it off my boat. I also wanted to read something scary/horror/thriller type because of halloween. This book is chunky so I thought doing it as a buddy read was a good idea.
Cool. I'll wait until a bit nearer the time before setting up a thread for The Passage. Hopefully a few more people will know where they are at then too and want to join in.
I really liked The Passage. Hope you buddy readers enjoy it. The audio for it is done very well too, if anyone is interested in it.
I'm interested and have a copy. Not sure if I will have time or not, but register my interest and I will have another look when we get closer.

It's a sticky thread at the very top of the buddy reads folder.

OH! I saw that, noted that it was locked, noted that is was last updated in 2013 and noted that it says that it is the "LINE-UP FOR 2014".
Didn't read past that to see that Running Blind was listed there.
It get it now. Thanks.

We decided not to do separate threads for this series but to continue the thread as we started new books.
ETA: The discussion for The Drawing of the Three starts about message 47.
