Chrissie and I are reading The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold FryThe Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry.She is pretty far along and I am just starting.
Anyone want to join us in reading and discussion?
Lynn wrote: "I read it in February so will probably pop along for a bit of discussion :)"Please do pop in! ☺
I'll be reading it but for J as part if the alphabet challenge. I'll make sure to see what you thought of it once I'm done. Currently reading H.
Josee wrote: "I'll be reading it but for J as part if the alphabet challenge. I'll make sure to see what you thought of it once I'm done. Currently reading H."Great Josee! There is plenty of fodder for discussion! :)
Beth wrote: "Starting a Buddy Read for Don Quixote with a Alexandra and Janet if anyone wants to join us!"Added you guys to the calendar beth :)
Ia anyone interested in a buddy read of A Game of Thrones? I keep meaning to read it, but end up being put off by the size of it and pick up something lighter.
Starting sometime early august, maybe?
Starting sometime early august, maybe?
Hurrah, Pragya's going to make me read it.
I will start it once I've finished my "E" alphabet book, which I think will be in a week or so. So If we said start discussing mid August does that suit? There's nothing wrong with getting a head start on reading it before then. I'm not good at reading to a schedule, so maybe we should agree to divide it into sections for discussion purposes. Maybe into 3? pages 1 - 250 (ish) 250 to 500 and 500 to end?
I'll set up a thread - the more the merrier, obviously.

Sarah and I are thinking of reading The Wise Man's Fear, the 2nd book of Rothfuss' Kingkiller's Chronicles during the Holliday, starting December 20th. I believe many of us have read the first one.Anyone wants to join us?

I might join too! I just started The Name of the Wind on Friday, and December holidays sounds like a good time to start the second book. Is anyone interested in a buddy read for The Name of the Wind (that's what I came to ask in the first place)? I'm only at chapter 3.
Looking for a buddy to read
by Daniel Silva with me. It is 752 Pages, so it fits the Chunster Year long challenge.
Casceil wrote: "Would anyone like to join a buddy read for The Golem and the Jinni by Helene Wecker
?"Sounds good to me! I'd like to join you Casceil. When were you thinking of reading it?
Ok - I'll probably start it tomorrow then once I've finished my current read - I only have about 70 pages left of that.
I updated the Buddy Reads calendar. There are some books that were scheduled to start in Feb/Mar (or TBA in one case). Please let me know if these buddy reads are current, ongoing, or history.
Back in late January or early February, some of us discussed setting up a buddy read in March for Bellefleur by Joyce Carol Oates. It never came off, possibly because we were all too busy with other things. I would still be interested in doing a buddy read for it, later in the spring, if anyone else is interested.
Casceil, that books looks great. I just ordered a secondhand copy. I'd be interested in joining you later in the spring. I've never read Joyce Carol Oates, but I've always wanted to try her.

We set up The Blade Itself one as quite a number of us have it on our chunkster lists but we never set a date as such so I suppose it could be pulled maybe.
I think I have all the changes added to the calendar except for Bellefleur. When the thread is set up, I will add it.
I would like to set up the Bellefleur buddy read for May 20th. If anyone who is interested in reading it has a problem with that schedule, they should let me know.
I am tempted to join you Anne as I have it on my kindle and in my chunkster list but I wouldn't be able to start realistically for another week or so.
Sarah wrote: "I am tempted to join you Anne as I have it on my kindle and in my chunkster list but I wouldn't be able to start realistically for another week or so."That's okay - I'm on page 226, now.
Is anyone interested in doing a buddy read for Outlander? I just started it as part of my chunkster challenge and would like to finish it in time for the Starz new series (August 9 in the US).
Would anyone be interested in reading The Orenda with me? I am planning on starting it sometime in July (I have another chunkster to read first) and it sounds like it might be a interesting book to discuss.
Lisa wrote: "Would anyone be interested in reading The Orenda with me? I should be done with my mickey by then and will fit it into my Roadrunner somehow.
Great Esther! Mid-July would be good for me too. What about starting it on 20th July? Would that be ok for you?
I really want to read The Orenda someday. I'll have to see what I have on my July reading list... and acquire the book. I'll let you know.
Ok, great! I will set up a discussion thread for it and pencil the start date in for 20th July. We can always change it if it doesn't suit nearer the time :)
Maybe. My dance card is a little full for August, but if you are not starting right away, I might be interested in joining later.

For example, if I want to read Anna Karenina and want to read and discuss the book with others, I would start a thread in this folder. The title would be Anna Karenina, and the message would read something along the lines of, "I'm looking for others to read Anna Karenina with me. Sign up below."
