Katniss's reasons behind saying yes for another Hunger Games. Would you vote "yes" or "no" to having a Hunger Game for the Capitol and why?

Trixie Teapot absolutley NO! the thing you were literally just sacrificed so much for just gets repeated. yes would be HYPER hypocritical. i understand that katniss had her reasons, but still, its straight up WRONG

Ivy Gutierrez NOOOOO the whole reason that the hunger games were seen as horrible was because it involved CHILDREN KILLING CHILDREN no matter capitol children or district children CHILDREN ARE CHILDREN and cannot be blamed for their parents behavior.

Eliana White Oh my gosh, this made me so mad! Absolutely not! I get her reasoning, she had every right to feel that way, but at the same time, they just fought a war to end tyranny, and making children compete against their will and kill each other is not the right way to start a new, "free" country. Besides, as she witnessed, having to kill other innocent children because of a corrupt government made them completely traumatized and changed her. Killing someone takes away your innocence and that guilt follows you for the rest of your life. Also, even though they were capital children, that doesn't automatically make them responsible for the laws that a power-hungry, controlling, and corrupt government forced on them. This sets a tone for the new government that condones more tyranny and persecution. Even though she had every right to be angry and want the capital to suffer, I still would think, that after the trauma and horror she was put through, she'd be sympathetic to that issue. Anyways, I think she should have said no, immediately.

It's a no from me. If the Hunger Games happen again you will be faced with another revolution and the cycle repeats.

lyndi ♡ no. if we did that, we'd be just as bad as the capitol, snow, and coin. it doesn't matter who their parents are because are parents don't decide who we are, we do. also, didn't we just fight a whole war to stop the hunger games?

lyndi ♡ CanaryK wrote: "I definitely thought Katniss said yes just to gain Coin's trust. I saw Katniss's "Yes... for Prim" as a tip-off that Katniss wasn't being honest -- after all, Prim is supposed to be one of the kind..."

I agree 100%. Prim wouldn't want the Hunger Games to continue.

IceSkater156 no. the Capitol kids had nothing to do with the adults' choices

Lola - Rose I see both sides of this discussion as valid , considering what the character has been through. She watched generations of her people suffer and never had a way to help them. She watched her loved ones and friends slowly die around her and she watched even her sister die.

So, yes.

On the other hand , Prim had died searching for peace. The hunger games started with a war so why not stop the slaughter? What was the point? She had watched children twist into monsters before her very eyes but still tried to let it happen again. If saying yes was right , then saying no was wrong. Saying yes would me saying others deserve to go through what her and Peeta went through.

Saying yes would make her a savage monster, a replicate of Snow and Coin.

So, no.

Popupduck NO, I hated how katniss voted yes she witnessed the horrors first hand and it wasn't the children who had any control over the capitol afull actions and they may have been so clouded by the capitol they may not have even realized the full horror that was happening

Trixie Teapot NO! like seriously this entire thing was to END the Hunger Games!
if she was voting for Prim she might think about the obvious reasons prim would say no.

message 112: by Alysa (new) - rated it 4 stars

Alysa Cooper No, because otherwise how are they any better than the capitol if they’re js gonna turn around and make ppl scared again. They js needed to get rid of the hunger games altogether. They lived in fear for too long that they didn’t know how to be happy and appreciate what they now have.

Popupduck Carter wrote: "Charlotte wrote: "I would vote no! Think about how much suffering she went through the capitol kids don’t deserve that no one does!"

True. But it is reasonable she said yes because of Prim."

Prim wouldn't want that she wanted peace

message 114: by Imogen (new) - rated it 3 stars

Imogen I would say NO because i think the whole PTSD from the survivors is a sign that even though the capital was bad that was just putting more people in danger and apin.

message 115: by KRITYA (new) - rated it 3 stars

KRITYA I would definitely choose no. Who in their right mind would want to relive the horrors and bloodbath of the Hunger Games? It’s not just traumatic—it’s inhumane. And with Katniss on the committee? She’d have to organize the very thing that broke her, see it unfold not from the arena but from the inside out, with all its grim nuances. That choice isn't just cruel—it’s not even pragmatic. It defeats everything they fought for.

Lucy Deutsch I understand why Katniss said yes, I think that if you would have asked her like a year later she wouldn't have said yes, because in my opinion the main reason she agreed was because of all her personally anger and baggage towards those people. She was still very much emotionallly involved. Personally, I think she should have said no, that would definitely have been the more moral decision. I mean, part of their whole revolution was against the Games, and so even if you're reopening them for all the right reasons, and the right people would be punished this time, it's definitely the wrong decision just because it's helping them fall into the same pattern as before. They need to break away and be different from the beggining or else they might end the same way.

message 117: by Rae (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rae I think I would say no. I see why Katniss said yes, but killing more people is not going to bring back Prim.

message 118: by Fico (new) - rated it 3 stars

Fico the Great yes, but just ONCE. just to prove a point.

Miss Construed the 13th I don't have a reason for Katniss saying yes, but I would have said no. No because if we say yes, we're just as bad as the Capitol. I agree that the people in the capitol are spoiled and kind of not likable, but still, I don't think we need to stoop to their level. And the candidates for the Hunger games, are CHILDREN. Even if it's CAPITOL children, they don't deserve it, they didn't PERSONALLY arrange so many Hunger Games. Some people in the capitol actually didn't like the Hunger Games I'm sure, we can't group then all into one and say they were all sadistic people who enjoyed suffering.
