I hated Beauty and Chalice, and I'm hating The Blue Sword. Not a Robin McKinley fan.
She's a very dull writer, I think; her books move slowly. I like more spunk.

Hm, I liked Beauty. Didn't like Chalice. Blue sword, no. I haven't read. Spindle's end was beautiful. And I loved Hero and the Crown. That's when I fell in love. Pegasus, was amazing.
Robin McKinley, to me, writes like Paolini. Her story line sometimes seems so boring, but the pull of the words is inexplicable.

though they are not my favorite books i think i can safely say i like them and i have read them quite a few times since
mhm. To read Hero and the Crown you have to be a little more advanced in reading to really appreciate it (no offense to those of you who dislike it) As I've said before, it's kinda like how through out the Eragon books, I'd read them, and be totally engrossed and then finish. I'd look up and think, Gee, that was boring Except, with these books, I feel like there's more of a moral lesson.
That's an interesting take on her books. And Paolinoi's Klymy. I actually haven't read any yet, but I have Pegasus, Rose Daughter and Spindle's at my house lined up to read.
I have wanted to read the Hero and the Crown, but do you need to read the Blue Sword first? On her books page, it says it's (H&C) is #2.

Lol. I know. Haha. That's what I was thinking. A bit off, but interesting. Like paranormal book titles.

Probably not. The Blue Sword was written first, but The Hero and the Crown is the prequel, set well before The Blue Sword, so I think you'd be okay to read The Hero and the Crown first.

I have never read Blue sword, and I probably will never. it sounds silly. And too much like one mark Twain book I can't remember

I can't decided on one, Yenna. But Pegasus was definitely one of my favorites. I've read Deerskin, and Spindle's End, and A few others. But I can't remember the names

The Blue Sword is kind of sort of about Stockholm Syndrome, except...apparently it's a good thing?
I usually read books in publication order; I've always read The Chronicles of Narnia that way.

but he didn't kidnap her to hurt her. i dont remember exactly why he did but i think it had something to do with a prophecy of sorts. he's nice to her all the way through that they teach her things and she becomes some sort of hero. so it doesnt really feel like Sockholm Syndrome, but i guess technically it is :)

Because the kelar told him to.
I don't think the niceness or heroics or anything changes the fact that she was still kidnapped. She was still taken from her bed while she slept. Yes, it's a fine situation and all that and she ends up being happy.
It's still kidnapping.

and i dont think the two i read were a waste of time.
lol, im starting to feel like i want to reread them :)

maybe i'll still try one.... which would you recommend as less of a waste of time?
It really depends on what you like to read. Deerskin was really slow and through out the book, I was thinking, "Wow, I have to keep reading," and then at the end I realize that that wasn't such a good story.

eragon was good though.. i liked it a lot but i prefer fast
not too fast that it kinda skips half the story and its jumpy
i just watched The Company Men then Just Go With It then Grown Ups in a row... i am really tired
doing hw
What happened to complete sentences, Honey? ;)
Hey.. Just so y'all know, Dani doesn't like Robin McKinley!!!!! It breaks my book lover heart. Fortunately, I have back up. Anyways, did you know that there is going to be a sequel for Pegasus!!!!????

I loooooved Pegasus. I just can't figure out why. It's slow, and somewhat dull. Nothing much happens in it, except that we find out the main character has a special talent, and Pegasuses like her especially. Really, quite uneventful.
Yeah I heard about the sequel. I started Pegasus but there was SOOOOO Much description and back stories and history it was driving me nutso!!! I had to take it back anyway so I never got farther than 100 pgs or so, but seriously. It took forever just to meet Ebon and stuff.
I mean it was sooooo dull. No offense Klym. Ill get around to it eventually, when I have the time

the story seemed good though. Sigh. If there was less "development" maybe I would have gotten into it more.
I know it was dull. That's why I said I was confused. I love, love, loved the book. But I can't figure out why. She's an amazing author that I love. But her books are soooooo dull. But I love them. Do you get what I mean?
Robin Mckinley is our first author! Yeay!
