Gina (grcollia) Hi there, I'm new to the group and thought I should introduce myself.

I am slightly... no make that absolutely... obsessed with books. I can't resist them. I dare not enter a bookshop without a full wallet and a strong man (or six) to carry my shopping, I visit Amazon about fifty times a day, and my mother laughs at me because I don't just read/hold/cuddle books... I sniff them too.

Now before I really embarrass myself, I shall toddle off...

Gina (grcollia) It's good to be amongst fellow book sniffers :o)

There's a bookshop in Hay-on-Wye, here in the UK, housed inside a castle, where all of the books smell old and dusty, and slightly damp even though they're completely dry. I confess to going there just to breathe in the air. I've considered moving to Hay, as it has around 30 bookshops, as it is surely heaven on earth.

message 13: by Gina (new)

Gina (grcollia) In a bookshop you mean? ;o)

message 14: by Jeane (new)

Jeane (icegini) | 4891 comments Fiona, why don't you move if you feel like doing it? let me know how Hay-on-wye is1 I mean when you go there, because that's your new task, fter you finsih the story.

message 15: by Petra X (new)

Petra X (petra-x) I didn't live too far from Hay-on-Wye growing up so we would go there occasionally. I don't like the smell of secondhand books at all so I never bought any (I would now, but now I would be looking for specific titles). For anyone who goes there the Old Stables Tea Rooms is the most fantastic cafe. They make all their own jams.

Darla (sylvanfox) | 573 comments Hi, my name is Darla, and...*ahem*...I am a book sniffer.... Oh, wait, that's the wrong meeting... Although it looks like we could start our own club.... Welcome Gina, you'll love this site :)

ooohhh... I have to say that for me, I love the scent of both old and new books... although I think I prefer the musty old smell to the new... it makes the book feel ancient and mysterious....lol
