Sidrah amazing as VA

message 2: by Darlene (last edited Nov 24, 2011 01:46PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Darlene I don't think its amazing as VA yet, but it definitely will be. And who knows? Maybe better.

Emily (RecordofaBibliophile) I loved it as much as VA, but honestly dont think the whole series will be able to match up to VA!

Stephanie Just as amazing. I really think Sydney is goof to become a much stronger character especially after her very timid and go by the rules type of character in VA. She has a lot of room to grow as a character and she has already displayed how she is starting to come out of her shell. The series should be absolutely amazing

Jacqui I think it is just as amazing as VA. I know that Sydney isn't as kick ass as rose but when it came down to it she was right there in the thick of things trying to help her friends. Also Sydney had to be diffrent then Rose because Adrian needs someone down to earth!! I think there is a chance that it may even end uop being better then VA! Fingers crossed!

Jennifer Dupriest I think that it's pretty good... It's almost as amazing as VA and I'm hoping the next book will be awesome...

Michele I loved it. I think it is as good as VA. I can't wait for the next book.

S.L.J. The first VA book was pretty slow and so was Bloodlines. If it follows suite, it'll only get better and better. It could easily be overall a better series because everything is already established. All RM needs to do is add to it. :)

Bookaholic @ Sammy
I definitely agree with you :)

S.L.J. Kate wrote: "When does the golden lily come out. Love the cover for it. Can't wait."

It's either May or June I think.

Jacqui It comes out on the 19th of June! I can't wait it is going to be so awesome!

S.L.J. Might be time 2 pre-order. :P

Sandy I wouldn't say its as amazing as VA but I did read it pretty much nonstop and enjoyed Sydney's character and seeing more of the minor characters. It was also just as amazing towards the end and can't wait for The Golden Lily.

Angel I like VA better, but I hope bloodlines becomes just as good.

Kathy amazing as VA

message 16: by Zoe (new) - rated it 5 stars

Zoe As amazing as VA!

Tatjana C VA was def better....the storyline unraveled too quickly, there was no suspense in this series. I still enjoyed it, but think they could've expanded some of the plots.

James Waldeck i liked it almost(like an inch difference) as much as VA

Ashley Dake VA is the best we know it !! i wanna see more rose and dont give me wrong i liked Sydney . We need to see if Sydney can be bad ass more like her friend Rose or just try . i do love the end of it . i should say when rose's man come in . its going to be good . i think Adrian is going to have some tricks up his sleeve when it comes down to it . Maybe try and get her back too . It would be good for him to try something new like Sydney but then again she would have her heart broken too .

chinami It was OK. Sydney really drove me crazy. What a religiously fanatic, non-believer of magic and hopelessly annoying with high morale person. She makes me look too tame. Although on the bright side i started liking Adrian, a lot :P

Darlene Veronica wrote: "It was OK. Sydney really drove me crazy. What a religiously fanatic, non-believer of magic and hopelessly annoying with high morale person. She makes me look too tame. Although on the bright side i..."

How was she a religious fanatic?

*Secret*Fatty* Darlene, I can see what Veronica is saying about Sydney being a "religious fanatic". There's nothing wrong with it, but her character does often refer to her religious beliefs as her reason for being uncomfortable around Moroi and Damphirs.

Here are a few examples from the book that point out how often her religious beliefs are discussed, thought, or used as an excuse:

1. We had strong religious beliefs about what it meant to live a good and pure lifestyle, and drinking was generally looked down upon.

2. The notion of someone bringing another back from the dead was not meshing well with my religious beliefs.

3. "They're religious," I said. I hated to play the religion card, but that was something the school would have a hard time countering. And hey, it had apparently worked on the fashion designer. "We go to church as a family on those days - us and our brothers"

4. For a moment, I considered using religion again.

5. He was an immoral person, but he'd still be raised on the same principals I had about humans and vampires. For him to abandon those beliefs, and expose innocents to the dire effect of vampire blood for his own material gain... well, it was more than a betrayal of the Alchemists. It was a betrayal of the whole human race.

6. "You made me do something that violated my beliefs."

7. "You're... you're crazy! Magics not real, and I don't have any! It's unnatural and wrong. I wont endager my soul."

chinami *Secret*Fatty* wrote: "Darlene, I can see what Veronica is saying about Sydney being a "religious fanatic". There's nothing wrong with it, but her character does often refer to her religious beliefs as her reason for bei..."

She definitely is religious fanatic, its even substantiated with reasons. :D

Stephanie Well if you really think about it, if Sydney was a religious fanatic she wouldnt have warmed up to Rose and helped her while she was on the run which is going against her beliefs

Stephanie Can you blame her if its been thrust upon her from every aspect of her life?

Jacqui Her beliefs are what's going to make hers and Adrian's relationship so exciting!!!

Stephanie yeah i think her and adrian will end up together but she will still be religious but the religion wont rule her life as it has done

chinami As long as Adrian and Sydney end up together i would not mind putting up with her religion mania.

S.L.J. Who else thinks that Trey is a vampire hunter?

I can see where this is coming from, but I wouldn't use the word fanatic. We don't even know for sure what Sydney's religion is. The book just says she is "a religious nut" and that she believes in God. As a religious person myself, she just seems like a girl who sticks to her beliefs (whatever those are). Also, if she were a religious fanatic I don't think she would have used religion as an excuse.

She's also relaxing her beliefs in light of knowing that not all Moroi are douch nozzles.

Jennie It's hard for me to say. My automatic response is that VA was better. But, I also had 6 books to fall in love with the characters and story line. So, although I really liked Bloodlines, it's unfair to judge 6 books against one.

message 33: by Jen (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jen almost as amazing as VA, I want more old characters like Lissa, Rose and definitely Dimitri

message 34: by Rose (last edited Dec 27, 2011 03:32PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Rose AS AMAZING AS VA!!!!!!! LOVED IT <3333 but I kinda miss Rose's tough personality. It shows girls as being strong! I also miss the totally HOT Dimitri! Then again, Bloodlines is amazing as long as it is written by Richelle Mead! :))

Kenzie Its really good!!

next book is The Golden Lily and I think it will be better then BloodLines

aikaterine Just as amazing as the VA series!
Although, I simply adore Rose, Dimitri and many other main characters of VA, I love Bloodlines because its leading characters are just so different from the ones we were used to from VA!
Same world, but different point of view.
Sydney isn't anything like Rose.
Looks, personalities and the way each of them sees the world differ!

message 41: by Amy (new) - rated it 5 stars

Amy Both equally amazing as Vampire Academy :D

message 42: by Suzy (last edited May 31, 2012 02:43PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Suzy G Better than VA in my opinion! There was never a doll moment in the whole book. In VA I thought there was some instances that were dragging along....but of course VA is still amazing! I LOVE Sydney and her personality interacting with Adrian's personality is hilarious!

Ashley Dake are they making Vampire Academy into a movie ???

Kaitlin Smiffy Smith Ashley wrote: "are they making Vampire Academy into a movie ???"

yeah they are but depending on what country you live in depends on when you get it. E.G America I rhink it comes out next year (2012) or Australia who I think gets it in 2013!

S.L.J. They usually begin film casting and/or production in January so that they can have the film ready for a summer release the following year.

At least that's what they do with major titles like TDKR and The Avengers. They could probably cast and produce VA in time for a late 2012 release since it wouldn't require a major budget.

They already have some of the cast and a few scenes for the movie so it could be out sooner than you think.

Darlene They have the cast for Vampire Academy already?

Nicole http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1686821/ says that the movie would be out in the US in 2013 and they and usually pretty reliable.

Kristy I have to go with the minority in this one. I loved Bloodlines better than VA.

Rose ticked me off way too much. I don't feel like she grew. I felt she stayed the same though out the book. Her goal was to get Dmitri at any cost. I hated how she used Adrian. I felt so bad for him.

Anyways. Sydney was raised to believe a certain way. Rose opened her up some but that training is still engraved into her. She is slowly coming undone and you can see it even if its tiny. I like her because she was a rebel when breaking into the tatoo parlor. Adrian and Sydney made a great team during that heist. Even better was Adrian's tattoo description. I could not stop laughing.

Anyways I think this series will have a lot more humor due to Adrian and I can't wait because I love him more than I ever did Dmitri. I loved him since he was introduced into the VA series.

Kaitlin Smiffy Smith Darlene =) wrote: "They have the cast for Vampire Academy already?"

I only think, umm, have you read Vampire Academy The Ultimate Guide?, even if you haven't in the middle of the book there's a section that has a sneak peak at the Graphic Novel, symbols, and scenes from Vampire Academy the movie and Bloodlines the movie, but they could just be trailers people have made up I'm not sure but it looks like the real thing
