Great Expectations
question
Did you actually like Pip?

I hate Pip more than I have ever hated a fictional (or real) person before! I just thought he was snobby in the way he tried to get rid of Magwitch even though he had changed his life and done so much for him, slightly ungrateful! And also I found him to be very shallow, do not try to tell me that if Estella wasn't beautiful he would have loved her, he would have ignored her and that would have been it! I thought the whole book dragged and I honestly didn't care about Pip or what happened to him in the slightest! Am I the only one who hates him, are there people out there who enjoyed reading about Pip?

Sorry, he`s a flawed character, but yes, I did like him particularly when he was younger. I am sorry that he turned out to be such a snob and for that I fault him. I dòn`t fault him for his aversion to Magwitch as the latter is nothing but a hardened criminal, regardless of the inheritance. In fact I applaud him as he remains constant to his distaste for the criminal. His affections are not bought.
Can't say I liked Pip but I found his story interesting. I think his flaws were very apparent and his "love" for Estelle was definitely shallow. A love of her beauty and status. She represented something for him and I'm not sure anybody truly got to know her.
