Great idea, Don! I'd join in, but I rarely buy hardbacks any more. Just my fave series I need to keep same-same format. :) Good luck w/it! Sounds fun!
I rarely buy hardbacks myself. These have been sitting on my shelf from a long time ago when I belonged to a book of the month club. I have a couple of omnibuses and some thick paperbacks like
I have a bunch of PB TBR, but none are very hefty. Seems like a great challenge to knock those out though. Enjoy! :)

I started The Name of the Wind a few months back. I am going to finish it off this month. The Dante omnibus is probably going to be on my list for awhile as it is several books in one.

(01/13/2012) My library informed me Destined for an Early Grave was available to check out and had three days to do it or would be back in circulation. Might as well add it. :)

Well I did pretty good. Hit my goal of 48 books for 2012. The challenge helped me keep on task plus the audiobooks helped, too. Didn't do so well trying to get through my bigger books. So, overall I consider it a success.
Aw, shucks, thanks ladies! :) As for whether I'll do it again, probably, but slightly modified. I challenged myself this year to clear off some series I had hanging around since High School/College. Plus, upped my GR challenge to 50 books. So, less audiobooks but more dtb's.I am thinking I'll focus each month on getting rid of one hefty-chunky book, a few quick reads and catch up where I left off with the Wheel of Time series via audiobooks. The Wheel of Time audiobooks will take a month per "book" to finish with my commute.
I'll probably keep track of each month's progress here: Don's Consecution of Completeness 2013
LOLAt least you got most of them done, Don :)
And its always great to have a plan of attack, even if it doesn't always work out as you expect.

So here are my rules:
In a months time I want to burn through 4 books if possible.
Heavy Weights: pick either one hardback or paperback of some heft off my real life bookshelf to read.
Light Weights: pick one e-book to read.
Cardio: Burn through 2 audio books.
I am going to do a run through in December to see how well my challenge works and make any tweaks along the way.
