meh today isnt so bad one of my pals from back home rang last night to say she was pregnant. So that upset me stupidly for some reason and finding it difficult to pick myself up again but i'll get over it eventually. She's only married 6 months and is now 3 months pregnant.

When your own mind is on it, it makes someone else's good news a bit bitter-sweet doesn't it? Never mind flower, you'll be up six times a night in the not too distant future, wondering why you ever thought this was a good idea.

Going to do a spoiler because I'm going to talk about a bit I thought was particularly thought provoking and I don't want to ruin anyone's reading.
(view spoiler)[ I found it really interesting watching the Wanderer going through thought processes I had gone through in my early life when he was sitting at the Bruhn's table arguing about war with Gudbrand. He decried war quite thoroughly at first. I bought several anthologies of war poetry in my early 20s and read Vera Britten' Testament of Youth and biographies of Siegrfied Sassoon and Wilfred Owen and others. I really felt there was no justification for war. (I think I might have come full circle now). Later I thought that people should stand up for underdogs against injustice. Gudbrand takes the view that people fight wars for love of their families and country. W's final stance is that it's the ruling people that start wars. I feel if cabinet ministers had to go and fight we'd be involved in fewer conflicts. I still can't square what happens when a country bullies another or kills its own citizens. If good men do nothing, evil thrives. Bad all round. It really made me think, this section. (hide spoiler)]

In response to Ignites above post (view spoiler)[ I have to admit it didnt really stand out for me as it has for you Ignite me dear, but I did think it was interesting I thought it really showed how little the Wanderer still new about humanity. I felt sorry for him because he couldn't understand what it would be like to go and fight for the protection of your community, your family and all the people you love as he has no idea what love is. But I have to agree with you on the cabinet ministers going to war, if that's the way it worked there just would be no war! Although I suppose you will never be able to stop people fighting for what/who they love so maybe war is something that can never be avoided but it is now an ill used resource? Not sure that is the right way to put that...

I FINISHED!!!! Not quite as gruesome as the first but possibly more interesting. Loved it roll on book 3 *hint hint*

What an annoying (in a good way) ending though!!! The story is building and building I could feel the tension/excitement in my stomach, finally at the climax of everything that the book had been building up to ... To be continued...

You are the master of suspense Mr Cornelius! I think, in fact I believe I do love you Mr Cornelius, I hope Big W isn't jealous but then he has Ignite.

I'm truly honoured, Sarah, that you have decided to start a journal, and I'm really pleased that you're enjoying Book Two so far.

Jud: Master of suspense; I like that very much. Regarding the rest of your message, I don't think The Wanderer will be too jealous (he says whilst blushing and fumbling with his shirt collar) . As you state, he has Kath with whom he can air his thoughts and grievances. I have a feeling she'd soon put him in his place, though.

(view spoiler)[ I was really disappointed when The Wanderer went up the pool tower and threw the stone into the water but didn't see anything in the pool when he got down to it. I was really hoping he would see the faces of his ancestors. He has been through so much I was really rooting for him that it would work, poor guy has had no luck and all he wanted to see was the face of his dad. Of course now I want to know why he didn't see any faces because I still believe in the legend of the Pool Tower... (hide spoiler)]

I know I am Jud. (view spoiler)[ I have just re-read that bit last night. I also really wanted him to see a face that had loved and needed him when he was a child. That was very sad. I squirmed in horror when the creature took over his body - he had seen himself, eye to eye, in the reflection in the pool and lost control of his body to it. Blindingly good writing - but I know I'm preaching to the converted with you! (hide spoiler)]

I wonder if anyone who has read and enjoyed this book would find it possible to leave an Amazon review? It does help our Indie authors so much and I always feel I owe them when I've had a really good experience with a book. If you can't bring yourself to do reviews, not to worry. The knowledge that you have enjoyed it is really great.

Maureen, I think I liked it more but that's because I felt I knew the Wanderer better. Rickard helps too! He's such a contrast - not only with W but at times, with himself!
