Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 20 comments I just finished a hard-fought 800 word day, and saw on Twitter that another author had a 6000+ word day. That's like ... a short book in itself.

My highest total ever is 4000 or so. What's yours?

Amy: PROUD DIRECTIONER (ravinxx) | 13 comments My total word count that I've written in one day? Well, that depends on how much of the words I keep. I will write and rewrite paragraphs and sections until I like them. My highest word count... I'd say around 3,500 words. Each day I write about 500-750 words, then come back the next day to edit and continue writing.

Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 20 comments ha, i'm glad to know I'm not super slow then. Today I wrote another hard-fought 950, and I was okay with that.

Generally, 1000 words is the goal.
1500 is a good day.
2000 is exceptional
2500, I'm ecstatic.
3000, I write a 1000 word story based on the day i wrote 3000 words.
4000, I remember and post on goodreads 4 years later.

My highest is around 5,000 words in a day, but I guess even that is dependent upon a deadline. A publisher pays and a writer provides.

Hilary Thomson (hilarythomson) I can write about 3500 words a day, but anything more than that is pushing physical exhaustion and straining creativity beyond its ability to deliver.

Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 20 comments Recently I've been hard pressed to make it to a thousand words a day. I think it depends mostly on what style I'm working with.

Rachel Cotterill (rachelcotterill) My highest is a little over 8,000. But I'm going to need to beat that this weekend if I'm going to succeed at NaNoWriMo (I have 30k to go in five days!) I write about 1,000-1,500 words per hour if I know what I want to say.

Lee Burton (lsburton337) | 20 comments Best of luck, Rachel. That'd be a paragon of writing sessions right there.

Marcia Ford | 2 comments My personal best was a little over 8,000. But that was on a novel for NaNoWriMo, and I'm a pantser when it comes to writing fiction. Because I'm an editor at heart, the only way I could write that much was to put the editor in my head in time-out for the day
