John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments The 1971 Penguin Classics paperback edition of Our Mutual Friend (at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/17... this at the top of the description: "The author of How to Be Good and High Fidelity contributes an introduction to this classic—a sophisticated mystery, a love story, and a tale of the corruptive power of wealth." The Amazon entry for that edition (at http://www.amazon.com/Our-Mutual-Frie...) makes no mention of an introduction by Nick Hornby, though it identifies Stephen Gill as the editor. And I think it unlikely Hornby wrote one for this edition, considering it came out in 1971, when he was only 14.

The reference to Hornby may well belong to another edition of OMF (the "sophisticated mystery" etc. of the description sounds like the right book). I haven't searched the others to find out. Can a librarian address this and fix it, please?

Lori Z | 23 comments I'm new here so I hope this is where I post about these issues. There is a book by Franklin Proud called "Where the Wind is Wild", but is coming up on your record as Where Wind Wild.
Thanks in advance!

Fixed that. BTW, if you have a copy, please post the book description here and I or someone else will put the book description on Goodreads.

ETA: Nevermind, got the description from eBay... =P

Lori Z | 23 comments There is a book by Margaret Pemberton called "Some Distant Shore" and I think the description is wrong. I found this description:

I was hoping someone could correct the description.

Thanks in advance!

Mayank Gupta (mayank-gupta) | 6 comments Rivka: this edition contained 604 pages only.

Julie was looking for a different edition altogether which has now been added. Below is the link

Mayank wrote: "Rivka: this edition contained 604 pages only."

No, it doesn't. Amazon has that (incorrect) information, but several other sites have 506 (or 512, which is pretty close) pages for that ISBN.

Yes, that is the same ISBN of the edition I am reading, which is a paperback with 506 pages.

message 27: by John (new)

John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments There's a 1964 edition of Only Yesterday at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/14... with a book description that may have been written by a user. It'd be better if it could carry the description used by some other editions, such as the one at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/19....

By the way, there's a very small typo in that main description: it says "the rise if post-World War I prosperity" where it should say "the rise of…" Considering that it occurs in some of the other editions as well, you may not want to fix that--unless it's a matter of one master change in a database--but I thought I'd point it out. (I'm a copy editor in my day job.)

message 28: by Beata (new)

Beata | 1 comments Book by Paul Coelho "By the River Piedra I Sat Down and Wept" has two editions linked to it that are actually different books.

Both of these are polish editions books:
Piąta góra (The Fifth Mountain)
Pielgrzym (The Pilgrimage)

Can somebody correct it please? Thank you.

message 31: by John (new)

John Jr. (john_e_branch_jr) | 58 comments The description for the hardcover edition of Freeman Dyson's book at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/63... is shorter than the description for the paperback at http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/13.... The paperback description is certainly better; I can't check my copy of the hardcover to find the original publisher's description because it's in storage. Would a librarian be willing to copy the longer text into the description of the hardcover?

This is a small issue, I know. I thank the librarians in advance for whatever they choose to do about this.

message 32: by Amara (last edited Jul 15, 2012 03:19PM) (new)

Amara Tanith (aftanith) Changed the description to the longer one (which actually needed some extraneous information cleaned up).
