Byron (byft) Night night Scy.

message 205: by Byron (new)

Byron (byft) This poll has really taken me by surprise.. Don't forget to vote ASAP as it closes at midnight monday.. (somewhere in the US time zone's not sure where..)

message 206: by Scylar (new)

Scylar Tyberius (scy_ty) Well, then, does that mean Kat's sad photo is the one we will write about?

message 207: by Kit Orellana (new)

Kit Orellana (kittyorell) I think so, yeah. It got almost half of the votes

message 208: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (ysareader) | 79 comments Oh no. I don't know if I can read that one.

message 209: by Kit Orellana (new)

Kit Orellana (kittyorell) Why not?

message 210: by Yvonne (last edited Nov 29, 2011 03:01PM) (new)

Yvonne (ysareader) | 79 comments It looks like a candlelight vigil, probably for someone who died. It just looks like it will be a very sad story. It also looks like it's from a real event so that will make it doubly sad.

Sammy Goode | 5380 comments Yvonne wrote: "It looks like a candlelight vigil, probably for someone who died. It just looks like it will be a very sad story. It also looks like it's from a real event so that will make it doubly sad."

I love that we are doing that one--creative juices are already flowing!

message 212: by Kit Orellana (new)

Kit Orellana (kittyorell) So write one. Write it so that it's a college party or something, not something sad

message 213: by Yvonne (new)

Yvonne (ysareader) | 79 comments Kit, I think you're an optimist because that's a good way of looking at that picture. You see where my mind went instead, lol. I'm not a writer but if you write a story like that, I'll change my mind and read it.

message 214: by Kit Orellana (new)

Kit Orellana (kittyorell) I might. I wrote half a story for the last two pictures, but I couldn't finish them. I'll try again for this one

message 215: by Scylar (new)

Hey, Kitty Kit, send me what you wrote for the November challenge. I'll help you brainstorm to get you going. I won't write a word of it, just give you ideas.

I didn't vote for that one. But if sad is what you voted for, then look out. Now you're gonna get it. The one I'm working on will require a full box of Kleenex.

message 217: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17378 comments I have a plot-bunny for this one - had to give those guys a happy ending. I need to put 500 more words on my NaNo novel first, though, to hit the 50K. Anyway, it's not December yet.

I just re-read what I wrote :( It's.... I dunno, I don't like it. I think I'll just leave it to rot on Microsoft Word

message 219: by Byron (new)

Byron (byft) Well the poll for the picture to base this months short story on has landed, with a decidedly large THUMP!!!!

14 votes separated the second and first places...

the winning picture is.... ~DRUM ROLL~

message 220: by Chrystalla (new)

Chrystalla | 301 comments :) I like it! :)

message 221: by Kat (new)

Kat (cutestsubever) Wow, you guys really voted for my sad picture.... But it doesn't have to be sad, there can be a happy ending :)

message 222: by Chrystalla (new)

Chrystalla | 301 comments Yes! :)

message 223: by Byron (new)

Byron (byft) Hahaha Kat this is YA. . So it can't be to graphic 'a happy ending'. . . .

LOL Yeah, just a little bit graphic then... but a happy ending nonetheless :)

I am ready to write!! ANd...GASP...I may turn this thread on it's ear and write a scene from a play instead of a short story!!!! I know, I know--that could be misconstrued as cheating...MAHAHAH...call me the evil playwright---she who defies the rules...rule breaker extraordinaire...But don't call me shirley!! Okay--can you tell I haven't been sleeping---who knows what I just said cause I sure as hell don't!

I shall write soon--be forewarned--I intend to make this drip realism!!! I think that means maybe a kind of happy ending--not so sure--need coffee.....

message 227: by Byron (new)

Byron (byft) Ohh sammy I for one look forward to your effort. .

message 228: by Kat (new)

Kat (cutestsubever) Me too!

message 230: by K (new)

K (k-polipetl) | 4090 comments Help! I've been unexpectedly bitten by a bunny thanks to the photo, so am thinking of listening to him and taking part... was just wondering... is there any sort of length limit to "short"?

message 232: by Byron (last edited Nov 30, 2011 04:04AM) (new)

Byron (byft) @ K - Nope... not at all... Go for it I say!!!

Oh that reminds me... A while ago, we looked at importing a story from another archive, and I never did hear back from the author.. but I had the idea of trying to work out a better way of getting stories placed on here.. Will investigate it more over the next couple of days.. O_O

message 238: by Kaje (new)

Kaje Harper | 17378 comments Looking forward to writing this one! These guys need a HFN. But not for a week, dammit, as other work is piling up.

message 239: by Chrystalla (new)

Chrystalla | 301 comments Ah! :) Good! (I love "happily ever after", but any "happy" will do!)

or Happy For Now , yes (as opposed to HEA - Happily Ever After.) Those endings are sort of required in romance, which is most of what I write. Some readers don't like HFN, but when the guys are this young HEA seems unlikely.

Anyway I like writing the beginning of new romance and the hopefulness of it.

message 244: by Lori (new)

Lori Strongin | 52 comments YAY! That's the one I voted for.

So do we share our stories here, or just talk about our inspiration, or is this more a personal challenge kind of thing?

Sammy Goode | 5380 comments Lori wrote: "Thanks, Kat. Any word count limits/maxes?"

No--it just has to be posted--you will probably need to put it in several consecutive posts. remember, it is meant to be short though.

message 249: by Lori (new)
