I been trying to find out more about the edition space. I been looking through most regular edition books and it is left empty. For regular and/or first edition books, do you leave it blank? If not, how should it be filled? (like: first edition or first edition paperback?) thanks if anyone answers this.

Generally we add edition specific information like Large Print, Braille, Unabridged, Abridged.Personally I don't put first edition etc in there but some people do
The librarian manual indicates:
edition
This field is for such things as "2nd edition", "Film Tie-In Edition", "Large Print", "Special Illustrated Edition" and other edition-specific data that belongs neither in the title nor the format fields.

I usually put the collection (not the series) there too (like "I bassotti #66", or "Piccola Biblioteca Einaudi #87", etc. Sorry I could only come up with Italian examples).
