Ending the book: how would you do it?

This is basically a fanfiction page: show everyone how YOU would end it.

Well, the last sentence is: "Keep calling for me, Viola
cuz here I come"

But remember when Todd said something like 'we will be together' and then Viola answered 'Always'. I thought that was a really nice moment between them.

So I thought the last sentence in the book should have been something like:

"Keep calling for me Viola,
and I'll come back to you
Always"


You know... to pick that line back up again and give it a more... refined ending.

Other than that, I think I'd actually like to see another book. There are a lot of things left out in the open

I'd... never be able to write a series that well, so I can't feel justified in coming up with a better ending.

Fair enough, I like that sense of respect for Mr.Ness' series, and the truth is, I don't think I could do it justice either! Let's see what everyone else thinks...

Although, I think that the only reason he did'nt put that, is because Todd actually forgot who Viola was in the last chapter, and only knew he had to find her because their bond was sooooo strong.

actually I think that he remembers who she is throughout the course last chapter.... I don't think that it's just one moment passing.

It's more like all of his fleeting thoughts summoned up for the whole duration that she's sitting next to him, trying to bring him back. Which is what... a couple of months?

So I think the last chapter shows his progression, slowly remembering Viola.

Honestly, I can't come up with a better ending to the book. Just a few pages back when I was reading I kept thinking "How will this end?!" I always felt like there was so much going on, I couldn't think of a way to end it without going too far. But once I read it, it felt like everything fit together to make sense and have a perfect ending.

:) Yup, that sounds about right. The coversation between me and one of my friends went like this:
Me: I love the end!
Friend: Why? I thought that It was pretty flimsy.
Me: So you did'nt like it?
Friend: Nope.
Me: Ok then, how would you end it?
Friend: Well... I would'nt really change it.... I just did'nt really like it...
Me: If you can't think how it could be better, then why do you not like it?
Friend:... you're right, I guess :) It was pretty cool.
Me: :D
Friend: :)


And it went on, but you get the idea.

I agree, another book would be great, just so you know how it all carried on...obviously not as long as the first 3 but just a little conclusion really, there was a lot that was left unanswered.

well,i think the ending might be a bit more interesting if there were more memories involved like when todd first met viola and when they kissed XP,and i wish there was another book that wrotes about when todd and viola were married and they have a son,maybe a daughter and war starts again but with their children.and sometime i just love this book so much that i wish i could just go to the auther and tell him that we need another series of this,i've even start to learn the writings XD.And i think now 603 is my new lucky number XD

(*gasp*) awesome! That's a better idea than having a better ending! Maybe without another war - something fresher would make it more individual and therefore more exciting if it doesn't follow the same pattern as the previous series. :3 Maybe.
