Félix (habitseven) Looks delicious, Sarah Pi.

message 52: by Jammies (new)

Jammies Sarah's back--wahooooooooo!

Oh, be careful, Sarah. Phil and Jim are liable to sneak up and strip the wrap right off your burrito.

message 53: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Truth be told Jammies, we would leave the wrap, but what's beneath the wrap may end up missing :-)

message 54: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments ::waits for Jim to distract SarahPi at the wrap... sneaks up on the waffles::

message 55: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth Either Cracker Barrel (their pancakes, muffins, bacon, and biscuits are all delicious!) or McDonald's (their Cinnamelts [with a side of orange juice] are to die for!)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments I am looking forward to visiting my oldest girl in Atlanta. We will certainly have hash browns (scattered, crispy) at the Waffle House.

She lives near an IHOP with a fabulous transvestite server. Simply divine.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Jim, You are stuttering. No I don't know the server's name. He's tall and African American and likes sparkly makeup.

message 60: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments W W W What d d did you ssssay?

message 61: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments Poor Jim, stuttering and turning an even whiter shade of pale. Are you ok?

message 62: by Jim (new)

Jim | 6484 comments Nothing a cup of Hot Cocoa won't cure.

message 63: by Jammies (new)

Jammies *brings a cup of purple cocoa to Jim to go with his sparkly makeup*

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I love character breakfasts at Disney. You're never too old to dine with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore, and Piglet.

I haven't chimed in on this thread yet?

There are lots of good local places but to answer the prompt my "go-to" place is Village Inn and my standard is a tomato, swiss, and bacon omelet.

message 66: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Places where I often hit Village Inn are near the Lloyd Center in Portland, Tower Road near DIA in Denver, and Redwood Road near Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City. I like the strawberry crepes and ultimate bacon and cheese omelet. Not at the same time.

I love the Lloyd Center VI. There is a flamboyant gay man who worked there and lived in the same hood as me when I worked at Poor Richards about 29 blocks up the road.

I like strawberry jam on their sourdough toast.

message 69: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments When my dad came to town he stayed at a hotel next to a Village Inn. I met him there to plan our day, but never ate anything.

My flamboyantly gay stepbrother used to live a mile or so from Lloyd Center, but he never worked in a restaurant. There are more than two gay men in Portland? Go figure.     ;)

message 70: by Félix (last edited Feb 12, 2012 08:35AM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) My first VI experience ever was the one by the hotel in St. George in 2004.

There used to be a very friendly young Russian lady who worked at the Lloyd Center VI named Tatiana (I think that was her name).

janine | 7709 comments My go-to place is my kitchen, where I get my yoghurt, blueberries and muesli.

message 72: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Go to the kitchen, J.

I recall that lady, Felarry. Phil, you have a flamboyantly gay brother who lives in Portland? Does he have a small dog?

message 74: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments Used to live there. Now he's in Shell Beach, CA. No dog.

message 75: by Phil (new)

Phil | 11837 comments I have another flamboyantly gay friend who had a small dog for years (Louise), but the dog died last year. He lives in Las Vegas.

message 76: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I've never been to a Village Inn in Las Vegas.

It's almost time for dessert.

message 78: by Félix (last edited Feb 12, 2012 10:54AM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) What's for dessert? A Dutch treat?

message 79: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments The same as for breakfast.

message 80: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Well that makes sense. Round out the day.

message 81: by janine (new)

janine | 7709 comments And I have fresh blueberries. Delicious.

message 82: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Mmmmmm. Good for you, too.

How did you get those? They should be a little out of season, now, especially where you live.

I'm more of a lurker, but I had to reply to this-- super small world!

For a few summers/college breaks years ago (2002-2003/2004), I would be living a block away from the Desert Star at my then-boyfriend's apartment.

I *think* the Greek place may have been Grecian Gardens?

Cheri | 795 comments I was at Pete's Seaside Cafe in Avila Beach when it was still there. He made the best shrimp tacos for breakfast and you could take your food next door to the fisherman’s dive bar called "Barbara's by the Sea" - Barbara looked like Bette Davis in *Whatever Happened to Baby Jane*. Anyway, Pete and his wife would get into huge, yelling fights at the Cafe. But once, Pete's wife threw my whole order of 4 shrimp tacos, from the kitchen, at Pete and yelled at me that if I thought she was going to bring me anything from "that son of a bitch, I could go fuck myself, too". The food was great when you could get it. I went to Barbara's and had 2 double Bloody Marys instead and it was a fine breakfast too.

My supermarket had a great deal on them, more than half off, so I had to buy them. The box says they're from Chili.

As my friend Joe would always say, "Dinner and a show!"

Yes, that one, but we call it Chili.

message 92: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments I think the French spell it that way too: Chili.

message 93: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments Breakfast out does not happen often. It is usually spurred into action by a craving or a vacation. I like The Flying Biscuit Cafe in Little Five Points. I could gorge myself on just their moon dusted rosemary potatoes and biscuits with their homemade cranberry apple butter. There is always a long wait but I love to peruse the little shops next door during that time. I also love the Cracker Barrel. The wild maine blueberry pancakes are heaven and I am crazy for the hashbrown casserole. IHOP is good but the service is comical at the one near our house. The stuffed french toast is ridiculous. Little is a pancake man.

Phil | 11837 comments My go-to breakfast place is the

NEW PAGE Cafe

(it's actually my kitchen because I'm not a fan of big breakfasts)
