Sorry, bit off topic. Just something else that annoyed me a little as the series went on. :P

it's not as easy as you may think to melt silver as it would be to melt, say, gold because that started as a liquid
Sammy wrote: "Anyone ever wonder why the Guardians don't simply melt down the silver stakes into bullets? They are always going on about how hard it is to stake a Strigoi because of the rib-cage and stuff. Would..."
Strigio move way to fast to make shooting them effective. Unless, I suppose if they had snipers, but even that's risky, and if they miss there virtually no chance of them hitting the target a second time. Hand-to-hand combat gives the guardians more control over what happens.

it wouldn't matter if they had snipers (trained or otherwise) or not because if they did miss, the strigoi are probably going to kill them in a matter of seconds because the guardian probably wouldn't be very good at hand-to-hand combat because they have spent years trying to learn how to use a gun instead of fighting.. and in the words of Rose "guns are cheating!!"

I;m not saying that a back up weapon isn't a bad idea but look at the Matrix. The Agents could dodge bullets but when Neo unloaded the minigun they all got splattered.
Vampires are fast, bullets are faster.

Thats true. but are strigoi faster, slower or the same as superman because he's faster than a bullet?

Yes I agree. I am sick of love triangles. If you really love someone, then you should really love them. If you lose them, you at least take a decent amount of time off before you go playing with someone else's affection. And if you are determined to cure your true love of his Strigoi-ness, you don't keep another guy on standby just in case. Jumping straight into a relationship with Adrian made Rose a weak-ass and destroyed all the integrity points she had earned up until then. True love is a bit of a myth in real life; we need our favourite authors to carry the flag so we can at least experience it vicariously. Mead dropped the ball.
Of course Adrian will forgive Rose once he gets it on with Sydney, he'll conveniently realise Rose was right about what he needed and the four of them will all be good friends. We'll forget about Rose's lack of honour and integrity because it will all be overshadowed by the happy ending.
I also missed the classic Rose-isms in the later books. They were still there but they didn't come as thick and fast.

In theory that would work, but it takes time to aim and shoot the gun, plus it isn't as hard as you think to dodge bullets (Though, I wouldn't recommend trying). I've been shooting for about 2 years now and one thing I learned (besides that if you you don't brace yourself the gun will either smack you in face or knock you on your butt) is that bullets don't change direction. You need to anticipate your targets next move and if you're wrong, you miss. Now, imagine if your target had human intelligence and inhuman speed? Oh, and the only way to inflict serious damage is by hitting them directly in the heart? Hand-to-hand combat is much more effective.

I couldn't agree more. I really love what you said about true-love being a bit of a myth. I love romance in books, but in real life I'm pretty cynical about that crap. And you're probably right, everyone will forgive Rose and Dimitri and they'll all live happily ever after (Blah, Blah, Blah).

I spos. I've just seen sooooo many vampire movies/tv shows where bullets hurt vampires but don't kill them. Unless u count Blade who manages to gun down dozens of vampires when he's not slicing them up with his sword...ohh, there's another suggestion. Why not use swords instead of stakes?
Or a jackhammer/stake like George Clooney in Dusk Till Dawn. :P

haha yeah I agree with the sword thing because they are silver and they can charm them, but they are a bit big to carry around everywhere!!

:(
I think it would have been worst if she had stayed with him. He knew she loved Dimitri, he said it himself, end of story.

I didn't like Rose becausethe whole time she was saying 'they come first', she was actually only intrested in what she wanted. I hated the way she used people for her own gains.

I would rather have a female character that can kick butt and be selfish, than a clumsy girl who can't decide between 2 boys, and loves one but can't let go of the other.

I know!! i still haven't recover form the heartbreak

Adrian knew that she loved Dimitri he knew she was going to look for him. he made gis choice to help her when he knew everything! i mean she made some bad choices but who doesn't?

Adrian knew she loved Dimitri, he knew all along and chose to ignore it.
And Rose was willing to kill Dimitri to save Lissa.

when you love someone like rose loves demitri you do anything for them at the expense of anyone so ya she was being selfish but i understand why she did what she did

That's not an excuse to throw everyone who she supposedly "loves" under the bus.
Rose used Adrian, Put Lisa in unnecessary danger, almost got Sydney sent to a re-education center, and almost ruined Eddie's future, all so she could have her happily ever after.

So, it's his fault for falling in love with her?
Yeah, she was "willing" to kill Dimitri a lot of times, but she never actually did.

Perfect comment.
Perfect comment.
Sammy wrote: "I wonder if Dimitri actually apologised to Adrian for screwing him over? I hope we find out in TGL."
It'll probably be a Rose-like apology where he'll say sorry and insult him in the same sentence.

Lol. I doubt it. Dimitri has survivors guilt already. I'm guessing Dimitri will try to be all noble and give Adrian a zen life lesson about the power of true love and then Adrian will either go off on one of his sprit/crazy rants or say something sarcastic that will make Dimitri sound like a moron.
Sammy wrote: "I wonder if Dimitri actually apologised to Adrian for screwing him over? I hope we find out in TGL."
No, he hasn't, not yet at least. I'm hoping that he will in TGL but, I kind of doubt it.

Adrian would probably something like: "This was the last thing I expected. You destroy my life and then feed me some inspirational philosophy."
-Adrian to Rose in The Last Sacrifice
lol "the power of true love." And then he'll try to shake his hand or something I bet like he's actually a stand up guy. Don't make me laugh.

instead of him just finishing with "inspirational philosophy" it would probably be "inspirational philosophy crap"

If you take Spirit away from Lissa, she's still a smart girl that can inspire people like she did if Frostbite while she was on her meds and take Sydney's magical abilities away and she's still a genius and an Alchemist.
Rose is just a fighter and doesn't have nearly enough wisdom to lecture people about being victims.

I love her development, both as a fighter and as well-rounded individual. We can already see from Bloodlines, when she briefly appears that she's been honing her self control. She's definitely not the best, but considering where she was in VA, it's pretty damn good.
Yeah, I'm with Rose, all the way XD

Why push crappy characters like Rose and Dimitry into such a good series.

Well, she actually told us that and then went on to screw every body over.
Zero excuse for that. If f****** you're friends over is how you win, then I don't wanna win.

Technically, she's 18.
I love Rose! Why is everyone hating on her? :(

I don't hate Rose, I like. Just have trouble with her decissions and actions and her cluelessness when her friends end up in trouble for her and have to deal with that on their own...
