I can agree that Lissa was a little clueless, but Rose literally owes her life to Lissa. She did bring her back from the dead, in case you forgot.

They always conveivently forget that and the reasons why Adrian smokes and drinks in the first place. Also to the person who didn't read the last book, read it. You'll know why I'm pissed. Taking his money isn't the only thing she does.

Hasn't Rose saved Lissa's life a million and one times after that though, what with taking her away from the academy and letting her drink from her for two years, or when she saved her from Victor, or when she saved her from Jesse and his weird club, or when she saved her from Avery and Reed. Yeah, I'm pretty sure she repaid her debt a while back.
Oh and I'm reading the last book tomorrow so I'll let you know about the Adrian thing.

Yes life servitude definitely is a repayment for saving someones life once. She cared so much about Lissa that she was willing to devote her life to protecting Lissa. She just needed to deal with Dimitri first while Lissa was safe at school/court (can't remember where she was). And who wouldn't save their best friend from death if they could. Lissa loved Rose!

Whitney Rose changed, but in a good way. She became stronger and found something and people to fight for. She lived her whole life for Lissa, and Dimitri was the one thing she wanted for herself. There wasn't much she could do about Adrian. She was his friend, but didn't really consider him anything more. Rose was actually very giving, because even when Dimitri was gone she tried out her relationship with Adrian (even though she wasn't really ready). She did this for him. But he didn't understand.

S.L.J. I think Sydney will surpass Rose in time. Even Dimitri said that Sydney was 'the new general' in LS. :P

That's what I love about the story. Rose, finally having something that she wanted just for her. And she shouldn't have gotten into a relationship with Adrian since she wasn't over Dimitri but she did because she cared about Adrian. And she was thankful for him for giving her the money to go try to finish with her past and move forward. Adrian shouldn't have gotten into a relationship with her because she was still mourning and in love with someone else.

Laura I think there are times in the series when you could dislike her....it's really hard to. One of those times for me was when she hurt Adrian, but other than that I really like her.

Me too. She's smart and creative. Rose would just throw a punch at someone she didn't like but Sydney is calculating. She's also got a bit of a devious side to her.

I think she could potentally be way more dangerous than Rose. I loved the way everyone said she could be really scary when she wanted to be.

Jazz After reading through most of the posts, I see two different types of fans, those who dislike her for being selfish and cheating on Adrian and those who say that while it was wrong for her to cheat on Adrian, he deserved it and she had to right to be selfish, yadda yadda yadda.

The only thing I really got comments on is the relationship with Adrian and the selfishness. I'm glad to see is that (most of you) understand the wrongness of cheating. But I really don't care how twist it, it still comes down to the simple fact that Rose and Dimitri had sex while both were in the full knowledge of Rose being in a relationship with another person. And no, she didn't take responsibility for cheating, she did attempt to put the blame on Adrian. Which lead to Adrian calling out on her selfish qualities.

Now, I'm not she is selfish, period. I won't deny that she is caring. Just that there are times in the series where the only thing she cares about is herself and it's never in a good situation. Even when she left Lissa at the end of Shadow Kiss, I was feeling more bad for Lissa losing her best friend than Rose losing Dimitri to him becoming a Strigoi.

In the end, she has good and bad qualities. I understand that. But personally the anger issues, the arrogance and the drama with Dimitri eventually just got old for me.

So because she cared about him and wanted to thank him, she entered a relationship with him, knowing full well how he felt about her and that she was going to break his heart in anyway? How is that okay?

it's not Ok one bit, but she did that because she didnt know she could save Dimitri so she thought she was doing what was right for Adrian by dating him even if it did come back around and bite him on the butt, but he did know it was Rose and she still loved Dimitri dead or alive that was never going to change and he new it, it's just they found a way to save him and Adrian thought him and Rose were still going to be good for the dating side of things but as I said befroe she loved Dimitri NOT Adrian

message 121: by Gloria (new) - rated it 5 stars

Gloria uh no rose will always be everyones favourite.
shes one of the reasons why the books are so interesting. sure she can be bitchy sometimes or if anyone thinks shes a bitch because of what happened between her and adrian, she gave him a chance, but everyone knew her heart belonged to dimitri and you cant change that.

message 122: by S.L.J. (last edited Dec 20, 2011 06:48AM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

S.L.J. For some reason when I think of Rose and Adrian, I always think of what The Joker said to Batman in The Dark Knight.

"They need you now but when they don't, they'll cast you out. Like a leper. You see, their morals, their code...it's a bad jokee, dropped at the first sign of trouble. They're only as good as the world allows them to be. You'll see, when the chips are down, these so called civilized, they'll eat each other."

But then that also applies to Jill and Sydney and well all of the Bloodlines gang. It's a shame really. They're all sort of outcasts.

The reason she left in the first place was because she believed there was a chance that Dimitri could be saved. So, in the end, she never really did give Adrian a chance. From the very beginning, she knew she wasn't going to commit. I'm not saying Adrian does have some blame, but she deceived him in every which way.

I never said that it was okay that Rose cheated on Adrian. She didn't know that she was going to break his heart. She didn't go into it with that mindset. Also, she thought that Dimitri was dead and that she couldn't get him back ever. She promised Adrian she would give it a shot. She was trying to move on.

What I keep saying is that she knew from the very beginning that she wasn't going to commit. Remember at the end of Blood Promise when she got the letter from Dimitri? She hadn't started dating Adrian yet, but she'd made up her mind on the spot that she was going to save Dimitri and of course, get back with him. And when she left the school after graduating to break Victor out of jail, she pushed aside the guilt she felt from breaking Adrian's heart. She knew from the very beginning what she was going to do. In all honesty, she never attempted to move on. She was just putting on a show.

yes. It's really hard to identify with rose especially when she makes stupid, rash decisions. Sydney is a bit more logical, yes she over analyses things but I prefer that over jumping into things without thinking at all. I'm glad adrian will have her, she is a bit more.....stable.

message 140: by S.L.J. (last edited Dec 22, 2011 03:44PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

S.L.J. Sydney has a bais view on vamps that isn't really her fault. It's been hammered into her head like mind control since she was born but she's starting to break out of it which is already making the bloodlines series very interesting.

As for Adrain, I think he will get stronger and become a sort of 'superhero'.

Rose will have to face up to the fact the she used and abused Adrain. She played him like an instrument and that can't go without reprocusions.

I completely agree with you about Sydney and Adrian, but I really don't think Rose will. She may apologize at some point, but I don't think she'll ever actually care about what she did to Adrian. The way Rose sees it, as long as she's happy.. No one else really matters. Who knows though? Maybe Sydney will smack some sense into her (Oh, I would love to see that) and make her see that the world doesn't revolve around "Rose".

LOL if that's the way you see it that's fine. Everything I say is my opinion. If you see it another way, so be it. In my OPINION, she did try to move on. Even after that when she realized that he wasn't dead, she knew that she still loved him. You can't just drop feelings for a person. She also accepted that she may have to attempt to kill him again. I don't feel like she made up anything in her mind. Things changed as events happened. If I had been in certain situations that she were in given the way her life was and the way that she grew up, I'd probably make certain decisions that she made. I'm not saying that I would cheat. I never have. But stuff happens. People make mistakes. That's how I see it. I feel that she acknowledged her mistakes and that she felt bad about certain things that she did. If you don't, okay. I don't really have another answer for you. That's how you feel and I've said how I feel many times.

True, but i dont hate her.

Amanda (Gale's Chosen One) Potter yeah she did. I still love her, but not as much.
I think when she ditched Lissa to go after Dimitri was understandable, she always did everything for her and I thought it was time for her to do something for herself. So I wasn't mad about that. The thing that really ticked me off was the way she treated Adrian. I hated it. I could see her and Adrian breaking up anyway and being with Dimitri but still, the whole cheating thing sucked. I don't like cheaters and Adrian didn't deserve it, she could've waited a couple of days to break things off, but no she had to sleep with Dimtri :| I also think that she kind of used him, I know she loved him, well started too and loved him as a friend but she really did manipulate him. I was glad she gave him a chance but she knew how much she loved Dimitri so she shouldn't have kept stringing Adrian along like that. Seriously she's lucky to have a guy like Adrian, what kind of person would take advantge of that? :/ I know a lot of Dimitri fans argue that it's Adrian's fault aswell, but really it's not that much. He loved her, so he was obviously blinded by his love and put too much trust in her and gave her wayyy more credit then she deserved. I know a lot of people in Adrians situation would have ignored the signs. But then again she really did have him wrapped around her finger. Now that is why she annoyed me later on on the series, mainly the last one. I hate users and people who take advantage of good people, and of course cheaters. But yeah i don't hate her, just those things about her irratated the hell out of me. That's my rant for now lol.

Kimi Yep and he admitted that he knew what she was doing and that she may never come back.

Additionally, all she did was "smile at him with womanly charm" and hold his hand. Then she said "Please." He knew what was going on and so did she. She didn't cross the line. Yes she knew that his feelings for her would push him to help but she was going to rescue Dimitri with or without Adrian's help.
