EShay Fagan (eshay11) | 23 comments So "The Time Machine" is a pretty short book. I have read quite a few on the list that are also fairly compact and I was thinking about reading another short one this month along with "The Time Machine." Here are a few I could think of, anyone else reccommend an brief/easy reads on the list?

The Call of the Wild - London
The Things They Carried - O'Brien
Slaughterhouse-Five - Vonnegut
Old Man and the Sea - Hemmingway
Of Mice and Men - Steinbeck
Heart of Darkness - Conrad
The Hound of the Baskervilles - Doyle
The War of the Worlds - Wells
The Pit and the Pendulum - Poe
Candide - Voltaire
Animal Farm - Orwell

Thanks everyone, and happy reading!

Cheers,
Erin

Liz M We have a whole thread devoted to books on the list that are less than 200 pages. Of course, opinions will vary widely about which are "easy" reads.

Anthony DeCastro | 168 comments Barabbas - Lagerkvist
Franny & Zooey - Salinger
The Crying of Lot 49 - Pynchon (though maybe not easy)

Chel | 380 comments A Modest Proposal, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Pit and the Pendulum all all very short, the shortest on the list, probably.
