Thank you, Shaun! For giving up some of your free time to answer everyone's questions. I really respect you for spending the time to do it
Well done, Lorraine! I know this was the first event you have organised, but it was great!
I'm off to bed now, but am really looking forward to the next event! Night everyone (: x

Thanks, Katy. Appreciate the support. Night :)

Taking a rest this weekend, then I shall start bugging DD as she's next on the list of events lol! Hope the influx of questions haven't put off the other authors that were interested, but really, it's been extremely awesome, and so much better than I was hoping for, so thank you everyone for pitching in ♥

Go on... !!"
I said something to that effect to an interviewer in the US when she was videoing me. She asked is there anything you don't want me to ask about. I said I'd prefer not to talk about my time in prison for murder. Her face was a picture. Lol

Night, Sarah. And thanks for attending.

Another book means another live event, ok?

checking in really late from my Mum's in Hampshire. Haven't had time to read through everything but with over 300 odd posts it looks like it's been a good evening! I look forward to reading through the posts at my leisure later on.

SOOOOOOOOO sorry I'm late! I was out visiting and only just got home!!!
I'm going to ask a question that I HOPE hasn't been asked yet!!!
Do you start off knowing what the title of your book is going to be, or do you decide later on or even after you've finished the book???
I know authors who start off with the title and people who wait until the book is finished.

This thread will remain open. Do stop in whenever you like.

Shaun - if you are still answering some questions, I noticed you said you were a fan of Richard Laymon. I read some of his books (not all, but most of them) about 12-15 years ago. I've only met 2 other people who were a fans of his work. He had a very warped and twisted mind, don't you think?

I think he wrote easily readable stories that flow well. Yes, he was a little gruesome and warped in places, but for the good. My favourites are The Stake and The Travelling Vampire Show.

Thanks, Zach.

Sometimes the title will come to me as I prepare the story, other times I have to read through after and see if something stands out that I think would make an apt title. Titles are important though, as it's what your book's going to be known by herein after!

Yes, good for when you get knocked over so you don't look like a licorice alsort ;)

Really are you 46? Gosh that's old! So am I, I blame old age for me not turning up as I fell asleep in the chair. ;-)
I'm still trawling through the thread, looks like you had a great evening. x

No problem. I'm about to fall asleep now after going work this morning! And yes, I'm 46 but feel more like 96 at the moment. lol

My favourites were Endless Night, Quake, Island & Bite. I am sure I am missing a few, but it has been years since I read any of his books.

I think you're right, GL. And Shaun, before I gave it up, I was also a telecoms TL working shifts and my wife works for TFL. Never knew we had so much in common.

Was tidying my desk from all the scraps of paper on which I jot down stuff at work and then bring them home before just dumping them on there, and I found a few more questions !!!!
Hope it's ok if I ask them now and that you won't say no to punish me !
- The way you describe scenes and surroundings is extremely detailed. Does this come naturally or do you actively work at it when you're writing?
- Do you feel that it's important for a character to evolve in a book or over a series of books, even if the books contains a lot of action and has a plot which could more or less work on its own?
- Can one be evil if it's for a good purpose? Is Prosper Snow good, or is he evil really?
Thanks Boss x

I don't even think about it when I'm writing. To me it doesn't seem that detailed!
I think a character will or should evolve naturally. They should adapt to the situation that they face, and they will probably change along the way, as people in real life change.
Evil is a relative term. What's evil to one person might not be to another. Would it be evil to go back in time and kill Hitler? Would the killing of one person be all right if it saved lives, or are you being just as bad if you kill just one person, no matter what they person will/has done? As for Prosper, I don't think he's evil at all. He just finds himself in bad situations and tries to make the best of them for himself, his family and his friends. I think he's loyal to a fault.
