Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Lotte, I love that quote! Not only is it funny, it's also absolutely accurate!

It's two hard to pick just one... so, I'm going to post two. Haha. If I posted more, I think that I'd take up everything and nobody would have anything else to add.

"I wept bitterly, surrendering momentarily to my fear and heartbroken confusion, but slowly I began to quiet a bit, as Jamie stroked my neck and back, offering me the comfort of his broad, warm chest. My sobs lessened and I began to calm myself, leaning tiredly into the curve of his shoulder. No wonder he was so good with horses, I thought blearily, feeling his fingers rubbing gently behind my ears, listening to the soothing, incomprehensible speech. If I were a horse, I'd let him ride me anywhere."

And, surprisingly this one. I think it's a good quote to show who Jamie was inside.

"I gave you justice, it said, as I was taught it. And I gave you mercy , too, so far as I could. While I could not spare you pain and humiliation, I make you a gift of my own pains and humiliations, that yours might be easier to bear."

Fawn | 404 comments "It's nearly winter, and the nights are long, moduinne." He leaned across the fence, reaching and I stepped into his arms, feeling the heat of his body and the beat of his heart.
"I love you"- Diana Gabaldon Outlander

and one that cracks me up every time.

“What are you doing with the child?" I inquired cautiously.
"I'm teachin' young James here the fine art of not pissing on his feet," he explained.” - Diana Gabaldon Outlander

Peggyzbooksnmusic Giving Wendy 2 thumbs up for a great job moderating our re-read of Outlander! Wendy...Thank you so much!:D

This quote is on the last page of Chapter 28 Kisses and Drawers; Jamie has just emerged from hiding in the cold water from British soldiers while Claire is conversing with Grannie MacNab: "

"Grannie MacNab," Jamie interrupted, advancing a menacing half-step through the water, "whatever your wish is, I'll do it. Provided only that ye'll give me back my shirt before my parts fall of wi' cold."

Tina | 162 comments Just after Jamie and Claire are married...

"I've not lain with a woman before, but I've...ah, had my hands on a few." He smiled shyly, and shook his head. "It wasna the same. I mean, I've held women in my arms before, and kissed them, and...well." "It was verra pleasant indeed. Made my heart pound and my breath come short, and all that. But it wasna at all as it is when I take you in my arms and kiss you." He reached out and touched my lower lip, barely brushing the edge. "It starts out the same, but then, after a moment, suddenly it's as though I've a living flame in my arms". His touch grew firmer, outlining my lips and caressing the line of my jaw. " And I want only to throw myself into it and be consumed."

Now if that isn't love I don't know what is :) SIGH

Tina | 162 comments Here's one that makes me teary every time I read it...
When Claire makes her decision to stay with Jamie...

Jamie: "I prayed all the way up that hill yesterday, he said softly. "Not for you to stay; I didna think that would be right. I prayed I'd be strong enough to send ye away. I said 'Lord, if I 've never had courage in my life before, let me have it now. Let me be brave enough not to fall on my knees and beg her to stay.'" "Hardest thing I ever did, Sassenach."

message 663: by Lotte (new)

Lotte | 330 comments For more than one week there were no more suggestions here, do we run out of material for Outlander?

How glad I am that we've got a Febr. 29th this year, it's just in time for this one: Yesterday I finished my Outlander re- (do not know how many times!), this time by listening to the wonderful Davina Porter. I had the feeling that listening makes it many times harder to get through the Wentworth Prison section and its aftermath, than reading it to yourself. But then, just before the story turns to a happy ending, there it was - the pearl bracelet! It seemed to be lost somewhere in the depths of my memory, and after we learned who had given the pearl necklace to Jamie's mother Ellen some chapters earlier, MacRannoch sent the matching bracelet to Claire.

But what happened to this bracelet, does anybody know, did it ever turn up again? Whereas the necklace keeps being reported from time to time, I cannot remember what became of the bracelet.

I also seem to have lost track of the necklace, though. Having just finished Outlander, I recall it there. Claire must have taken it with her leaving Lallybroch, because she could try to barter it for help to free Jamie.

IN DIA (view spoiler)

I do not remember it ever being mentioned in Voyager. (view spoiler)

In DOA (view spoiler)

I do not know anything about it in Fiery Cross, it was back again in ABOSAA. (view spoiler)

And finally AEITB: where is it, with Claire or Briana - do we know? I certainly do not.

Gwennie (blessedwannab) | 3151 comments Because this week is split, half Outlander, half DIA, I opted to not do a question. The quotes will always been the last topic conversation for the rereads.

Sunday will open the topic question for DIA.

Lotte, also, if you want, you can post your thoughts in the original Outlander thread:

http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/6...

As of tonight, before I go to bed, this thread will be closed and archived. All continuing conversations will be moved there so that I can start the thread for the reread of DIA. Its not important, I'd just hate for the conversation abut the bracelet (good topic!) to be halted because the thread is closed.

Thank you Wendy! I just did as you suggested and it worked.

message 666: by Lori (new) - rated it 5 stars

Lori (lorimcd) OK Lotte... I answered in the other thread, but I forgot about the mention of the necklace in ABOSSA. But, Bree could still have it. I'm off do a search thru my Kindle books. Since Wendy's closing this thread, I'll respond in the other one (again).

Good question!
