Skypaw gulped down her last small fish and hurried after the cats.


Rani jumped up and scrambled after them. "Wait! You have no idea where you're going!" she exclaimed, running up to the front of the line and stopping them. "There's a huge twoleg nest over there with a bunch of dogs! You can't go over there, they're always hungry for cat." she told them, her eyes huge. Then she smiled brightly again and began to pad in a different direction. "Follow me!"

Smiling confusedly, Powdertail turned to follow Rani. "Are - are you sure?" she asked timidly.

Melanor raised her head as the cats padded off. "Get out of Twolegplace as soon as possible," she croaked after them. "There are too many Thunderpaths that are too dangerous to cross."

Seaflame watched Powdertail go after Rani, quickly following. He hadn't replied-he didn't think he was ready to. He tried to believe Powdertail's and Stormfeather's words. And yeah, it seemed true. No cat was afraid of him. No cat disgusted. But try still talked. Talked about the powers behind his back, out of earshot. Disgruntled and frustrated, Seaflame shook himself back into reality and padded after Rani.

Smokepaw tried to see who she could talk to.

Stormbreeze was looking a bit distant, thinking of Seaflame's ability, and was wondering what all the prophecy cats are thinking. He sighed and spotted Smokepaw.

Smokepaw looked up at the sky.

Stormbreeze then shoved his thoughts to a side and began to think how his sister and the clans are doing.

Smokepaw saw Stormbreeze and padded over to him. "Hi!"

Stormbreeze snapped out of his daydream and greeted, "Oh hi Smokepaw, what do you need?"

Smokepaw smiled. "Nothing, just felt like talking. How ya doing?"

Stormbreeze said smoothly, "Pretty good, just worried about my sister and the others. You?"

"Same here. But I bet that Leafpaw and Rainpaw are doing just fine. Rainpaw might be angry though, but Leafpaw..." she thought. "Well, she'll be talking to others, being social and all." she smiled.

Stormbreeze asked, "Leafpaw? Is she by any chance a medicine cat apprentice for BreezeClan?"

She shook her head. "Well, honestly, we don't even have mentors yet..."

Stormbreeze asked, "Oh... yeah Bluestar never finished the apprentice ceremony... did she wanted to become a medicine cat apprentice?"

She shrugged. "Well, I don't know. She was very quiet. She loved helping out though."

Stormbreeze wondered, "Well, I'm sure my sister would love to take on an apprentice one of these days... ah well, so when do you think we'll have some sort of power like Seaflame?"

She shrugged. "Maybe...." she thought. "Soon I hope!"

Stormbreeze said, "I hope I get something cool like moving so very fast that no one can see when I attack... yeah like blending into the shadow... yep..."

"Of course I'm sure! I was raised wandering twolegplace. I could navigate through it with my eyes closed." Rani exclaimed proudly.


Skypaw followed silently.

Seaflame decided to bring up the rear, checking over his shoulder every so often.

"Alright!" Powdertail was quick to agree with her, she didn't want to make an enemy of Rani, who seemed nice. Padding after her quickly, she kept her head high and her eyes searching for any landmarks to remember.

Smokepaw nodded. "I'd love to be able to create smoke!"

Stormbreeze wondered, "We would be an excellent team, because I can also use my speed to blend into your smoke... yeah, that'll be cool."

She closed her eyes, and smiled. "That would be great."

Blazestrike padded next to Rani. "So... where are you taking us?" she asked.

"Out of twolegplace. I can take you the short way, but there's a bunch of dogs that way. Or I can take you the long way, which isn't as bad. I'm still trying to decide." Rani replied brightly.

"Er - maybe the long way might be better," Powdertail interjected quietly. "I don't want to take any chances with dogs, we still have two weakened cats."

Stormfeather nodded and meowed "ive never been fond of dogs"

"Me neither." Skypaw muttered.


"Some of them aren't as bad." Rani objected, turning to face the group. Behind her, a large, gray Australian Sheperd dog came padding up, but she didn't notice. The dog's eyes were narrowed and its lips drawn back in a snarl-look.

Seaflame lowered himself into a crouch, fur bristling. "Rani," he growled lowly. "Don't move."

"Hm?" Rani asked, confused. Her nose twitched and her eyes widened. Her tufty ears perked up and she whirled around to face the dog, a huge smile on her face.
"Silvie!" she exclaimed.

Seaflame sat back. "Of course," he mewed. "Because a cat isn't a cat without a dog friend," he muttered, but was secretly relieved that the dog was friendly.

Rani giggled at Seaflame's comment. "Everyone, this is Silvie. She was my mother's friend until she died and then she came to take care of me, since my father wasn't around. I got her last night to help us in case any dogs came and tried to attack us and she can warn the off." she explained, smiling.

Nightdawn growled, shoving himself forward. "Rami, Rainy, whatever your name is.. I dot think we have time to be hanging around with dogs." he meowed. "Our clanmates are starving, so while you only have two cats to take care of, we have 4 clans!" he meowed, tears filling in his eyes. He quickly swiped at them, not wanting to appear weak.

Rani gulped, looking up at the big warrior. "I-I'm sorry. I just thought...I just...." her voice trailed off and she looked at her paws. "And my name is Rani." she growled under her breath. Then she turned and began walking slowly in the direction out.

Silvie looked at the cat. She drew her lips back in a snarl. "Look, cat. You think you so great, taking care of bunches of cats. But that ain't no reason to upset the poor shecat. You watch ya tongue, boy." she growled, her wording a bit wrong in cat-tongue.

Nightdawn curled his lip, feeling Tigerstar wreath around him like the wind. Steady along, steady along, never show fear. he purred. "Humph." he muttered, not knowing whT else to say. Maybe he might have been the teensiest bit r-Nah...

Seaflame watched the exchange quietly, not knowing if he should've spoke up. Casting glances at the others, he followed Rani once again.

Powdertail padded softly over to Seaflame. "Are you thinking we should have said something?" she asked him.

Seaflame watched Rani for a second before replying. "I think she's old enough to take care fo herself. She's not stupid."

"Yes, I suppose you're right," Powdertail agreed, "After all, she seems to really, er, enjoy the dog's company, I suppose."

Nightdawn stalked away moodily, wandering down the sidewalk.

Rani led them down the sidewalk, keeping her eyes on the road for any cars. She deliberately steered clear of Nightdawn. Silvie padded up and trotted beside her. The two said nothing, but there was an unspoken bond between them. A car creaked by quickly, but Rani stayed calm, her fur completely flat, and her eyes sparkling as they always did.



Skypaw flattened herself to the ground as the monster rolled by.

Seaflame grinned at Powdertail's comment. "Yeah, she does," he mewed. As the monster rolled by, he crouched, ears pricked and alert, as he watched the roaring beast speed down the thunderpath.
