papalbina | 23 comments these two books are basically the same, in the second one the ISBN is missing the 9 at the beginning.

right ISBN: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/83...
wrong ISBN: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/80...

is it possible to delete the one with the wrong ISBN??

Iluzija O. Istini | 241 comments only super can do it because it has 5 or more reviews. I edited it so it can be merged, and merged it so now, when deleted, reviews will be transferred to the right one :D

Peter (pete_c) | 388 comments This edition of The Life of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle appears to have the wrong ISBN. When searching by ISBN, the ISBN 0719503957 (ISBN13: 9780719503955) comes back to a different edition, published by John Murray Publishers Ltd (cf. http://www.amazon.com/Life-Sir-Arthur-Conan-Doyle/dp/0719503957/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1320654850&sr=8-1). That edition has ISBN 0719503957 (ISBN-13: 978-0719503955).

ISBN 1125891130 (ISBN-13: 978-1125891131) comes back to the 1949 edition published by Harper & Brothers (cf. http://www.amazon.com/Life-Sir-Arthur-Conan-Doyle/dp/B0006D6VXQ/ref=tmm_hrd_title_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1320654850&sr=8-1).

What is the best way to fix this or get it fixed? It has 1 rating.

Is it permissible to edit the ISBN of a book if everything else about the book matches a different edition with its own ISBN?

Should the edition that matches the entered ISBN be added to the database with the correct data as well?

Thanks.

Please do not. You may create an alternate-cover edition.

What about the wrong publisher issue?

There is also a difference in pagination.

Do you physically own either edition? On what basis are you assuming the information is incorrect?

I own the Harper and Brothers edition. It matches the data on Amazon.

There were editions published by both publishers in 1949, which is where I assume that the error crept in.

Ah, if you have the actual book in front of you, then go ahead and make the correction.

Peter (pete_c) | 388 comments Done. It turns the opposite error also existed. Fixed both.
