I boarded the bus preparing to embark on my path. I knew where I was going. I knew the path I had mapped out. One problem, the "bus driver" had a different plan. Divorce, bankruptcies ,and business failures. As these were trying experiences, he was only warming up. Three deaths, a partner (1990), my father (2005) and finally my first true love I reunited with in Jan of 2009 (July 2009). Devoid of hope and caught up in despair, I sat on a lonely cold marble bench, looked up to the heavens and cried out, "Why did Everything Happen?" The "bus driver", brought the bus to a stop after a twenty-five year journey, allowed us to de-board, put a warm loving hand on my shoulder, pointed back to the road he had chosen and said, "Son, what has been so bad?" Why did Everything Happen?

Hi All. I have added my book, Game for Anything, to the group bookshelf. I would really appreciate it if you would take a look. I am also really keen to get some Goodreads reviews, but postage is an issue. If there are any South African group members who would like to review it, I'd be grateful. Likewise, if there are any South African authors out there who would like to send me their book for review, I will do so with pleasure.

Hi Bruce,
If the book is half as funny as the trailer it will be side-splitting!
By the way, you have your 5 star reviews, so you're eligble for the memoirs only library www.memoirsonly.com, message me or contact me through memoirsonly@gmail.com if you're interested in joining.
I have added my memoir, Old Man On Campus, to the group's bookshelf. I hope you have an opportunity to enjoy it.The book chronicles what happens when a 58-year-old boomer quits his job when others might be thinking of retiring to play golf, moves away from his wife and kids, and goes back to college as a full-time medical student with strangers less than half his age? The book details the often humorous experience as new situations evoke old memories, while new friends, teachers, and patients teach important new lessons.

Hi fellow writers,My sequel to Goodbye Junie Moon (The story of the trials of a whistle-blower during the Vietnam War)
is out today, titled Junie Moon Rising. The sequel is about how a flamboyant, non-conforming,ex-stripper tries to change sufficiently to become an acceptable candidate to adopt children. She has two other strikes against her. First, she is not married - a definite requirement if adopting during the 1970's. And two, she has lost her business, therefore, her money, after 'blowing the whistle' on her crooked protagonists.
Can she succeed with what seems an impossibility?

Hi there. I wanted to tell you all a bit about my new book. I would love it if some of you read it!My book _College Girl: A Memoir_College Girl: A Memoir is coming out today with Exceslior. It's about my sexual assault while I was in college. Twenty years later I am a college professor & I return to the scene where it all happened, interview my rommates, etc.. I am basically trying to solve the mystery of my own past.
I really hope that folks in this group check it out. It took me a long time to write it. It's been well-reviewed thus far. I am guessing that some folks in this group have been through what I describe.
Please let me know your thoughts on it, if you do pick it up.
Best to you,
Laura
Since some of you posted reviews, I thought I would post mine for my book here too: College Girl: A MemoirFrom the Inside Flap
"College Girl is an exceptionally well-written, gripping rarity. Though the book tells the story of a horrific rape, it is, in fact, about the attack's aftermath--for its perpetrator, its victim, each of their families, and beyond. It is about the dividing line between bravery and cowardice. It is about human beings behaving extraordinarily, under almost unthinkable circumstances. By relentlessly continuing to expand her examination beyond herself, Laura Gray-Rosendale has created something of great importance not only to individuals, but to society." -- Evan Handler, actor ("Sex and the City," "Californication") as well as author of Time on Fire: My Comedy of Terrors
From the Back Cover
"College Girl is a monumental achievement that ranges from memoir to cultural critique to documentary nonfiction, but it's also a stunning study in prose stylings that reaches from the sublime to the grotesque. Lyrical, repulsive, elegant, and hideous, College Girl is expressed in language so thought-provoking, so astute, that we cannot help but be right there with her. I urge all of us to engage with and learn from this deeply important book--and never, ever forget." -- Kass Fleisher, author of Dead Woman Hollow
"Words like 'brave' or 'honest' usually used to describe a memoir of trauma and recovery don't even come close to capturing this searingly painful, unflinchingly self-reflective, and painstakingly subtle memoir. With not a hint of self-congratulation, and in language as jagged-edged as the events themselves, coupled with long languid reflective passages, College Girl achieves something truly rare and unsettling--a story of such brutality that is also, oddly, almost beautiful in its telling." -- Michael Kimmel, author of Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men

Hi Diana,
I didn't find it that easy to add my book and if it wasn't for the help of Leila I might have been still been wondering how!
If you have at least a 4 or five star review on Amazon or Goodreads I can add you to the Memoirs Only Library I've specifically set up for this group.
Message me when this happens.
Richard,The messages clicked off before I finished. I have two 5 star reviews on goodreads and one on Amazon.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, Diana
Richard-- Please do let me know what you need to add it to the shelf. Thanks to those of you who plan to read the book. It means so much to me! Best wishes, LauraCollege Girl: A Memoir
Hi Laura,There are 2 different answers to your question. There is the bookshelf Leila set up for the group, and there is the Library I've set up for the group.
With regard to the group bookshelf I had to ask Leila for help in adding the memoir I authored for a patient of mine - much of Goodreads is still a mystery to me!
With regard to the Library I set up for authors in this group with a minimum 4 or 5 star review on Goodreads or Amazon you need to send your Book description, Author details, Amazon.com & Uk links, along with social links twitter, facebook, goodreads page etc to memoirsonly@gmail.com - I'm a little behind where I want to be due to a lot of changes I've been making, so please be patient.

Hi Diana,
There's no way to message you through your Goodreads page, so I'll need you to send all your links (Amazon.com & Uk, website/blog,twitter,facebook etc) to memoirsonly@gmail.com, along with your book description and author profile
